A couple of rewrites away from being god-tier. Ah well, Hoyte still shot the shit out of this thing.

Might not ever get over that Falcone reveal and how clunky and lame it is in a movie that is otherwise perfect.

    Part II soon, please!

Revisiting this was an interesting experience. It’s of course staggering from a filmmaking perspective, but the center of it still rings a bit hollow, and I think I know why.

It’s Washington and Branagh. Both are wonderful actors in their own right, but I think this particular story would have benefited from a couple of true movie stars taking those roles.

The first ones that come to mind are Michael B. Jordan for The Protagonist (still stand by this name as…

I love every thing about this… except the script.

Over two hours of mystery, creepy clues and suspicion and the big reveal is that the most famous mafioso in Batman lore is… exactly who he was in Batman Begins and The Long Halloween, his two most famous appearances.

I’m just confused about how Reeves expected us to react to all of this, and viewing it through the lens of someone not as plugged into the Batman lore, is a mafia…

That Tom and Chris saw their work here and agreed they left some meat on the bone is… just rad.

And I have no doubt Dead Reckoning and for that matter, Top Gun: Maverick, will clear whatever bars they set.

I also should say again that the cinematography here is just elite. It’s warm, rich, crisp and clear.

    What a film!

I’m not sure I’ll ever get over Ledger in this movie. Few “big” performances since have even come close to the level of immersion he got to here.

It’s the hair, the makeup, and the posture, but what sells it most for me is that damn voice.

How does an Australian make himself sound like that? What the hell did he even hear that set him on the course to get there? And how does he make it work so…

I’m sorry I will just never be able to get mad about a movie that goes out of its way to show us George Wallace and Ronald Reagan getting popped.
