The animation style is just out of this world. It's so fluid that styles blend together seamlessly. The story knows when and where to subvert expectations and play with genre conventions. It understands that we have been bombarded with Spider-man stories for nearly 20 years, and therefore parts of this story are stale and need to be freshened up. Also one of the only superhero movies I can remember that is set in New York and perfectly captures the apathy New Yorkers would probably have to weird shit happening. They travel on the subway everyday, a black hole opening up in Brooklyn is barely going to register for them.
