Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

🕷️🕸️2nd Time Reviewing: 🕸️🕷️

+Re-watched in preparation for Across the Spider-Verse, can’t wait. The early Letterboxd scores are insane.
+Cage as Noir will forever be casting made in heaven.
“Sometimes I let matches burn down to my fingertips just to feel something, anything.”
+Forever regretting selling my Edge of Spider-Verse #2…
+This world is so refreshing. It acknowledges that we have all seen Spidey’s origin before, and therefore isn’t afraid to put its own spin on characters and events.
+Stan Lees one liner hits hard.
+/- Looking forward to seeing Spider-Man PS4 in the sequel.
+/- I agree with all previous points made.

9.25/10

Overall- Into the Spider-Verse is one big love letter to comic books.

DID YOU KNOW- If you hit pause anytime a train goes by, because all the animators wanted to animate Stan Lee, he's in almost every single train.

+Great voice acting by all. Nicholas Cage as Spider-Man Noir had me in stitches.
+The animation style is stunning, the colours are so vibrant and pop out of the screen. This might be the best use of colour i've ever seen in an animated film. I loved the comic book feel to it, where you can see text boxes of Miles thoughts etc.
+The soundtrack is great, Sunflower was one of my most listened to songs of 2018 and 2019.
+I love the take on Spider-Gwen; it still haunts me today that I had the first appearance of her character in the comics, then sold it before this film came out...why did I do that?!
+That spiderman 2099 after credit scene is hilarious.
+I loved the plot, especially how they dealt with the "Uncle Ben", or in miles' case "Uncle Aaron" storyline.
-The film lacks a well developed villain, Kingpin was really underutilised.

9/10

Overall- I can't wait for the sequel, they could really make a great franchise out of this. It's crazy to think that this film has had that big of an impact, that the MCU are now going with a multiverse route, even after they turned their back on it with Mysterio.

DID YOU KNOW- At the beginning of the film, the famous phrase "With great power comes great responsibility" is actually said by Cliff Robertson, who played Uncle Ben in the original "Spider-Man" trilogy with Tobey Maguire. The quote was pulled from "Spider-Man" archival footage, as Robertson passed away in 2011.
