Multi faceted display of characterization, a clever screenplay, and a trio of acting performances that merit high remarks makes Brodcast News a exceptional experience. Network television going through a transformation of substance becoming an afterthought to the emphasis on style dare I say artificial reporting becoming the norm. Something about the editing moves like a canoe down a peaceful river hardly having any slips in a 132 minute runtime. The personal relationships between the major protagonists are filled with drama, comedy, emotional stakes, and natural chemistry. Hurt, Brooks, and Hunter excels hitting it right on the bullseye in individual moments achieving the highest level of their renowned gifts for what they do for a living. Each time Brooks came in with a sharp jab of dialogue or comedic timing, the film gets a little bit more better than it already shows to be. Brilliant example of ingenious storytelling by matching romantic comedy with societal commentary.
