Thanks so much for hanging out in the wild with me this month at Art Journal Journey; I hope you had as much fun as I did creating wild journal pages and visiting everyone who entered the challenge (smile!).
For my final page, I started by covering the background with Forest Moss and Old Paper Distress Paint and then adding some white acrylic paint to add light and shade. Next I splattered the page with watered down Pine Needles and Peeled Paint Distress Ink and left it to dry, then I added some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink horizontally across the page using a baby wipe. I stamped a crackle design using Ground Espresso Distress Archival Ink and a grungy moss design using Peeled Paint Distress Archival Ink; both stamps were from a Stamperia Create Happiness stamp set by Vicky Papaioannou. I coloured the stamped areas using a Dark Sepia Faber-Castell marker, a Sand Spectrum Aqua marker and Rusty Hinge Distress Ink. Next I fussy cut the sloth from an Amazonia paper pad by Stamperia and arranged him onto the page, using matte glue, with some washi leaf stickers. I added the “Thanks for hanging out in the wild” wording using Tim Holtz letter stickers and to finish, I splattered the page with white Liquitex acrylic ink.
I hope you enjoyed taking a walk on the wild side! I certainly had fun getting wild and creating all my pages for this challenge, whether it was in my A4 art journal …
… or my smaller chipboard journal (smile!).
Thank you all for your participation and lovely comments, you made it such a pleasure to host this challenge!
I’d also like to say a special thanks to Bleubeard & Elizabeth, Erika and Valerie for asking me to be a guest host, they always provided such valuable support and encouragement, thanks so much!
Tomorrow is a new month and brings a new challenge at Art Journal Journey and I can’t wait to see what the new theme is and say hello to our new host – I hope to see you there!
Thanks for joining me! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.
It’s time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Make It Feminine.
I enjoyed creating this feminine page and to start, I used Tattered Rose and Pumice Stone Distress Paints to cover the page. When dry, I stamped some text using Hickory Smoke Distress Archival Ink and a grungy mottled design using Peeled Paint Distress Archival Ink; both stamps were from a Stamperia Create Happiness stamp set by Vicky Papaioannou. Then I splattered the page with Pine Needles Distress Ink and white Liquitex acrylic ink, and left them to dry. The fence, birdhouses, flowers, foliage and sentiment were fussy cut from a House of Roses Card Collection bundle, edged with a Dark Sepia Faber-Castell marker and arranged onto the page, using matte glue. To finish, I added some more foliage using leaf washi stickers and then, I splattered the page again using the white Liquitex acrylic ink.

These roses, at my mum’s house, reminded me of my page – aren’t they beautiful!
As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m also enjoying my cuppa in this matching rose adorned teacup and saucer. We’re at Lytham Hall and there’s also a cappuccino (top right) for those of you who prefer coffee – Happy T Day everyone!
Challenges
As well as Try it on Tuesday, I’m pleased to be joining Art Journal Journey, where I’m hosting our Wonderfully Wild challenge, with the wild birds on my page.
I know it’s August and not winter, but as I’m hosting our Wonderfully Wild challenge over at Art Journal Journey this month, I just couldn’t resist creating this page when I saw this adorable wild beastie; he’s recycled from an old calendar – isn’t he the cutest (smile!).
I started by colouring the bright blue sky using Prize Ribbon Distress Paint and left it to dry. I fussy cutting the Highland cow and foreground from the calendar page, and then I also created some hill shapes from the remaining snowy pieces of the image; I layered the pieces onto the page using a glue stick. Next I stamped the trees, first using Moonlight White Brilliance Ink and then again, over the top, using Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink; to create a snowy appearance. The wording “Wild about Winter” was cut from another magazine page, stuck in place and outlined with a white Uniball gel pen. To finish, I added snowy lines of Fluffy Puffy Stuff by Inkylicious, which turns 3D when heated with a heat gun.
I must have a thing for Highland cows as here’s another, more summery, one on my notebook, which was gifted me one Christmas – such fun!
Stay safe and well! x

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Emboss It!
This page captures happy memories of our adventures in Portovenere on the Italian Riviera.
For my page, the heat embossed background was created using a compass Stamperia stencil, a Versamark Watermark ink pad, Black Ranger Embossing Powder, Salvaged Patina Distress Glaze, and Wow! Glitter Embossing Powder. I stamped some random typewriter letters to the background using a Carabelle Studio stamp and some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Archival Ink. Then I stamped the “Golfo dei Poeti”, “Bay of Poets”, “Italy” and “Byron” using black Archival Ink onto the page. The postcard was bought when we visited Portovenere and to finish, I added a Kaisercraft sticker which reads “and the adventure begins”.
For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing small inspired creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.
Portovenere is on the Gulf of La Spezia, also known as the Gulf of Poets because it has attracted artists and poets for a long time due to its idyllic sea landscapes, beautiful beaches and a soothing nature. Portovenere was one of our favourite places to visit and as you can see, it has a picturesque harbour which is lined with brightly coloured houses.
We wandered around the narrow medieval streets lined with shops.
Admired the pretty coloured houses.
Enjoyed walking up to and exploring Doria Castle. Portovenere is steeped in history; you can find out more here.
Walked along the coastal paths and found breathtaking views.
Explored the beautiful churches and architecture.
Relaxed at “Byron’s Grotto” in Portovenere, which was named in honour of the British poet’s Lord Byron, because, according to local legend, he meditated here and drew inspiration from this place for his literary works. At the top of the photo, you can just make out the castle.
Hope you enjoyed Portovenere too. I’ll be sharing more of our Italian travel adventures in future posts soon.

Challenges
I’m joining the lovely Valerie from Bastelmania and Erika from BioArtGal and their Poems challenge over at Art Journal Journey. I hope my page qualifies as it’s more about where poets gained inspiration for their poems, I added the line “and the adventure begins” as a start their poems. Also many apologies that I have not joined you sooner, it’s been a busy month.
It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Fantasy.
My fantasy page features a very pretty fairy from the Sleeping Beauty papers by Stamperia.
For my background, I painted Stormy Sky, Pine Needles and Tattered Rose Distress Paints onto my page and left it to dry. Then I stamped a Fragments stamp by Tim Holtz, layering the stamp all over the page using Faded Jeans and Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink and then White Moonlight Brilliance Ink. I edged the paper pieces from a Sleeping Beauty Stamperia paper pad using a Dark Sepia Faber-Castell marker and then I stuck them in place using a glue stick. To finish, I added some pretty leaves and flowers by Little Birdie.
For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.
I’m hoping fairies might be living amongst the flowers in my garden – spring has definitely sprung and our garden border is looking so beautiful this year (smile!).
Hoping that you all stay safe and well! x
