Episode 3-161[]

Season 3 Episode 161: The Weight of Time (1)

Agni teleports to the Aurora Forest near Rindhallow where Maruna is waiting. He concludes that Maruna having waited after handing over the spear must mean he has something to say. Maruna lets Agni learn what he needs through insight and then declares that it is better they act independently and leaves.

In Kalibloom, a group of Brimo employees is discussing the disaster in Aeroplateau where some prisoners have escaped to Eloth because the prison for magic criminals got damaged by sura attacks. Ruche is bothered by them worrying about another city since she is concerned about her sister in Atera. The conversation topic shifts, the employees praise Riche for saving many lives and wonder where the survivors of Atera will go. Then they raise the question of when Chandra will pick up Laila to take her back to Rindhallow.

In the Temple of Earth, Rana brings Ran's cloak to Laila. Laila is concerned by the fact that the huge amount of food that was originally in the cloak is now gone and also by the fact that the Eye of Perishment is still in the cloak, clearly unused despite Chandra having determined that it had been used by his insight.

Ran wakes up and when he cannot see Shess, he swiftly teleports away. Shess is standing by the ocean shore across from Mistyshore when Ran suddenly appears and lands a punch on his face. Shess denies being on his way to Mistyshore. Ran apologizes for Leny's situation and then comments on Chatan being far weaker than another 5th stage he knows of.

Samphati approaches Maruna as he sits and looks into the distance. She makes no further attempts to convince him to join their side, admitting that this is because he now has superior power. Maruna expresses resolve to save the Garuda clan without having to rely on shaky alliances and resents how this world is so heavily based on power.

Samphati leans in close to him and asks how he had developed without the Eye. Maruna starts telling his story. A great amount of time had passed since he and Ran left Konchez, walking through an empty and unchanging space. He was carrying Leez the Cat the whole time. At the beginning, Ran would chatter a lot, annoying Maruna. With time, he went silent, which Maruna appreciated. Until finally, Ran broke and lost the will to live entirely. Maruna was confused how a human could get fatigued in a place where there was no hunger or physical aging.

Episode 3-162[]

Season 3 Episode 162: The Weight of Time (2)

Maruna is unable to understand why Ran would want to die. He admits that traveling through the unchanging space is boring, but no more. Repeating the thoughts of what to do once getting out are enough to sustain him. Ran feels that thinking the same things over and over is exhausting and there came a time when he wished to stop thinking altogether.

Maruna realized that despite the human body not aging in the space, the same was not true for the mind. Ran asked Maruna to kill him. Maruna said he would do so if Ran uses the Eye of Perishment to develop him first. At this point, Ran starts worrying whether a developed Maruna would bring harm to the universe. Maruna keeps on prodding whether Ran cares enough to continue living after all until Ran eventually takes back his request.

Ran realizes what Maruna had been trying to do and thanks him. Then he smiles and the white space around Ran begins to crack. They find themselves in the toxic environment of the sura realm. Since Leez the Cat seems to be taking this badly, Maruna takes her into his arms and lessens the gravity around her. However, he fears that the toxicity of the realm could harm her and so they need to find someone who would help. Ran convinces him to extend this ability to him as well and so Maruna holds him by the hand as they walk.

They hide behind a pillar when a gust of fire rushes around them. Maruna opts to stay in his human form since he would be a noticeable target in his sura form. He instantly worries that they must have run into the Tarakas since those would have taken over the sura realm already.

Ran is convinced that the suras he sees are not Tarakas, they seem like Garudas to him. When Maruna finally pays them a glance, he spots his mother, Vinata, among them. At first, he thinks this must be an illusion since she had perished during the Cataclysm, but Ran suggests that perhaps the two of them exited not only in the wrong place but also at the wrong time. At a time when Vinata still lived.

Episode 3-163[]

Season 3 Episode 163: The Weight of Time (3)

In narrative, Maruna states that he had not seen his mother for a long time by the time she died and never got to learn the circumstances. In response, it took him long to realize how he missed her and he had no one to confess to about it.

Ran reminds Maruna not to get distracted, that their purpose is to return to Willarv and they must be careful not to affect the future. They hide using hoti chandra and attempt to overhear the flock of Garudas. Suddenly, Vinata calls on her clanmates and urges them to stop the Asura clan from getting to the Ananta clan and stopping Ananta from dying.

From this, Maruna deduced that they must be in D500 on the day of Ananta's death, when the Garuda and Yaksha clans blocked the Asuras from getting through, thus helping the gods. This also means that nowhere they can go is safe because all of the sura realm was a battlefield at this time.

Ran suggests asking the gods for help, he is told that Agni was not involved in these events but Chandra remains an option. He and Maruna travel through the Abyss, an area smelling like rotten corpses which makes it possible to shorten long distances in the sura realm, alike the water channels of the human realm. They exit in Ananta clan territory and Maruna points out where the gods are.

He also worries how well Leez the Cat is handling the toxicity and he tells Ran that the daily limits on spell use do not apply in the sura realm so Ran can heal the cat as long as he has vigor. When Ran is about to head towards the gods, Visnu in the form of a small child tugs him by the sleeve.

Maruna immediately senses that this person is powerful and tenses up, but Ran proceeds to joke with the child. Visnu recognizes that the two of them we supposed to be on Willarv 523 years later but he asks Maruna if returning is truly his wish. Maruna had lost almost everyone he was close to, so what is left for him in the future?

Maruna realizes that here, in the past, he can better help his clan by warning them of future threats, and makes the decision to stay. Visnu tells them that their decision must be unanimous since if one stays, there will be no future for the other to return to. Maruna decides to push for his decision by the rule of the stronger, but Ran refuses to accept it and freezes him using Bhavati Varuna. The ice begins to crack.

Episode 3-164[]

Season 3 Episode 164: The Weight of Time (4)

Visnu warns Ran that Maruna will not stay frozen for long and asks about Ran's resolve to fight. He states that he feels that the future universe without him has hope if Ran is determined to protect it. He encourages the both of them and walks away, carrying Leez the Cat. When the ice cracks, Maruna yells at Ran to give up so that he does not need to kill him, but Ran refuses to surrender.

A distance away, a group of gods is discussing how even Surya could not notice Taksaka's approach earlier. They speculate that someone must have helped Taksaka and are thankful that Taksaka only swooped in to save Vasuki. Varuna is disappointed that she was unable to kill Vasuki.

Chandra suggests that Visnu may have helped Taksaka if he is against the gods' current actions, but Indra dismisses the idea. He feels that the gods should have explicitly told them not to kill Ananta if that was what they wanted. Moreover, according to Marut, this was only possible thanks to Brahma's item and Visnu's oracle, which foretold that Ananta will destroy 90% of the universe 500 years later. Chandra feels something odd in the distance and temporarily takes his leave to investigate.

Meanwhile, Ran throws spell after spell at Maruna, always disappearing using hoti chandra after throwing out a salvage of offensive spells. After one such disappearance, Maruna calls out to him to finally give up this futile fight. When Ran does not show up, Maruna decides to fly off. He is struck down in midair by a powerful Hoti Indra Bhavati Varuna spell that leaves him as a charred body on the ground.

Ran approaches, declaring his victory, and calls for Visnu to send them both back. He soon realizes that Visnu had left, and despairs about the situation. Maruna takes sura form and declares his intention to kill Ran this time since he no longer needs to develop using the Eye of Perishment if he can stay here. He attempts to squash Ran with his foot, but Ran slashes right through it and punches Maruna into the face. Ran mocks Maruna for his slow speed.

Maruna loses patience and throws transcendentals at Ran. Ran evades with trouble, when someone's hand suddenly catches him and pulls him aside. With a surprised expression on his face, Chandra asks why his item is there.

Episode 3-165[]

Season 3 Episode 165: The Weight of Time (5)

Chandra stops Ran and he deduces that Ran must have come from a future based on being unable to read Ran with insight and from the state of the cloak that Ran is wearing. He asks if Ran was sent by Visnu, Kali, or Ananta, but instead of answering, Ran teleports out of the cloak and pursues Maruna, who is flying away by then. Visnu appears before Chandra and tells him not to kill Ran.

Visnu explains that he is trying to extend the lifespan of the universe, as always, and that Ananta must die to achieve this end. Kali believes Visnu is making a mistake and things are happening according to her own plans. She was able to unleash the power of the eye for her minions. But Visnu is certain that the one making a mistake is her and the creatures of the future will prove him right. Chandra too will understand the hope that Visnu saw in them.

Chandra refuses this method and he criticizes Visnu for destroying many possibilities in his fights with Kali. He believes it is wrong to have so many universes disappear in order to save one alone. Visnu tells Chandra to judge for himself and interfere as he likes. But he also seals off Chandra's transcendentals, stating that they would get in the way in the future. He then predicts that a human with the surname Hemawati will summon, judge, and kill Chandra one day. What to do with this information is up to Chandra.

Maruna failed to find Vinata in the previous location and so he travels through the Abyss with the intention of checking all the relevant pathways. Ran catches up to him and attempts to freeze Maruna once more, but Maruna manages to defend himself. Ran tries to stop Maruna from changing the future by arguing that Maruna might meet his past self, but Maruna explains that all the Rakshasas were in the human realm at this time and Maruna lived on Konchez even after that.

Maruna warns Ran not to use his power here because his high transcendental level might attract nastikas. Ran partially surafies and attacks Maruna with a lightning transcendental. Ran states that if he is to die, they die together. A group of Garuda clan nastikas takes note that there is a fight going on in the Abyss. A mysterious nastika decides to go in to solve the situation.

Maruna points out that Ran evidently does not want to think about nothing and has become completely obsessed instead. As they fight, Ran points out that this was only possible because a certain someone helped him regain his senses. Suddenly, Garuda himself steps between them and interrupts the fight. He reminds that the rakshasas were all ordered to stay away and asks whether Maruna dares defy his orders. Maruna has a shocked expression on his face.

Episode 3-166[]

Season 3 Episode 166: The Weight of Time (6)

Maruna overcomes his surprise at the sight of his father and attempts to explain who he is, but Garuda interrupts him and shuts him up, ordering him and Ran to return from where they came. In an attempt to impersonate a rakshasa, Ran adopts sura speech and in a very respectful manner, he asks Garuda for advice on where to go. Garuda suggests they seek out Shuri, who is Visnu's best friend.

As Ran and Maruna prepare to leave, Maruna asks Garuda to cherish his name and protect Vinata. Suddenly, a loud noise is heard, a crazed Asura barges in, demanding a fight with Garuda. Garuda faces the challenger, and Ran and Maruna are flung out of the Abyss.

The cave system begins to crumble. Ran picks up an unconscious Maruna and repeatedly casts hoti vayu in an attempt to get them away from the all-out destruction. When he was beginning to despair, Chandra takes them to safety.

Maruna wakes up only briefly to see Shuri present as Chandra gives his cloak to Ran once more. Then he zones out again. Shuri suspects that he is in this condition either because of Visnu's interference or because of his proximity to Garuda.

Ran seeks affirmation that meddling with past events is dangerous, but Shuri reassures him that Visnu will most likely make sure that the future they came from does not disappear no matter what they do. If someone who should have lived dies because of them, Visnu would save them. If someone who should have died survives because of them, Visnu would kill them.

She claims that no nastika can survive after getting caught up in Visnu's web of time and all will end as is his will. This was how Yaksha died and how Ananta will die. Chandra exclaims that this is madness and Visnu must be crazy, but Shuri shrugs it off. She then advises Ran to tell Maruna that if he intervenes, his siblings will not be born.

Ran tells all of this to Maruna when Maruna returns to his senses in the heart of the Abyss. Chandra and Shuri accompanied them there, but then left to tend to their affairs. Ran and Maruna are to wait until the Ananta situation is resolved, then Shuri and Chandra will seek out Visnu, who will help them to the future.

The heart of the Abyss is allegedly where Kali's minions, the future Taraka clan, were trapped until recently. Suddenly, a person resembling an older version of Yuta, all chained up, approaches the two, much to their confusion.

Episode 3-167[]

Season 3 Episode 167: The Weight of Time (7)

Maruna recalls how he asked Yuta about his age and family relation towards him, and how Yuta evaded the question. Ran breaks out Maruna from his thoughts and asks if the odd being before them could be Maruna's brother. The question unsettles Maruna and he admits that he would not know anything about him for sure outside of what he was told when father brought Yuta in. They agree not to do anything about the creature when it suddenly moves behind Maruna and attacks him.

Maruna recalls the last words Akasha told him before sending him to the human realm. She advised him to kill Jatayu because he stole the true Jatayu's name and is only pretending to be a young rakshasa. She believes that Yuta may actually be an older brother to Maruna and links his existence to a creature who has been living in the bottom of the Abyss for tens of thousands of years if not more. The being was created from one of the dangerous names that Kali stole.

The creature strikes out at Maruna, crushing rocks all around him. Maruna chooses to evade and wonders whether Shuri and Chandra knew of this being and sent them there on purpose. Ran attempts to cast magic but quickly notes that it is failing due to Yuta's Taraka eyes, and so he chooses to partially surafy. Maruna criticizes him for his recklessness and urges him to run away. He plans to buy some time for Ran to escape.

Suddenly, the creature teleports using the same skill that Yuta possesses. He appears behind Maruna and is about to kick him hard in the head, when Ran jumps in and takes the hit for Maruna. Surprised, Maruna picks up Ran and skids away with him, avoiding the creature's next strike.

As Yuta slowly approaches, Maruna realizes that he considers them caught prey. Ran takes off his cloak, claiming to feel hot, and drinks water from a pool of red water right next to them. Maruna worries that Ran is facing a backlash from his powers and wonders how best to escape when Ran jumps into the red water. Maruna picks up the cloak and jumps in after him, catching up and helping him swim into the distance. Yuta's eyes turn turquoise as he watches them escape.

While swimming, Maruna has a flashback of how he joyously flew up to his mother, sharing his excitement about finally having a brother. He starts raving about Jatayu's amazing wings, not noticing his mother's unhappy expression. When Maruna speaks about not having any other siblings, Vinata tells him that they were removed for his sake. Then she smiles and tells Maruna to be an example to his brother.

Maruna and Ran reach the other side of the red lake, Maruna pulling out the unconscious Ran. He concludes that he might need to find someone who would help him wake Ran up. He recognizes the scenery and quickly notices a stone confirming his suspicions. They just crawled out from the Lake of Reflection in Kalibloom. Are they in the Willarv of the past?

Episode 3-168[]

Season 3 Episode 168: The Weight of Time (8)

Maruna realizes that there are no buildings around the lake and regrets that he never took interest in Willarv in the past. Two Yakshas suddenly approach him, one seems to be a rakshasa and the other a half. They warn him to stay away from the lake and steer him in the direction where he can find other Garuda clan suras.

Maruna contemplates whether to take Ran with him. He considers leaving him in Kalibloom in the care of magicians, but is abruptly told that no cities exist on Willarv and the D years have never been heard of. Maruna realizes they must have travelled even deeper into the past.

The half sends her rakshasa companion away and tells Maruna about suras getting along with humans well on this planet because the Yaksha king is there. Maruna makes the assumption that Shuri is the king and asks to meet her, inadvertedly revealing that Yaksha will die by Asura's hand while not regenerating the heart he had lent to humans.

The half seems astonished and an everwhelming fear comes across Maruna, but it soon recedes as Maruna is thinking that he did nothing wrong in telling the truth and that Yaksha's behavior was stupid because the bug-like humans were not worth such a sacrifice.

The half guesses that Maruna had travelled through time and offers to help. She leads him to the place where the Sword of Re is stuck in the ground and reveals the Sword's ability to cut through not only space, but also time. Maruna worries about the negative side-effects of pulling the sword, and so the half suggests waking up Ran and having him pull it. She taunts Maruna, stating that humans are tools to be used anyway, and wishing for him to be treated by superiors just as he treats those below him.

Maruna resolves to pull out the sword, judging that it would hurt his ego if he were to allow Ran to take more of a hit after having collapsed because of taking a blow for Maruna. Just as he is about to grasp it, Leez Haias appears and pulls out the sword, stating that there is no need for anyone else to hold it. She opens up a portal with it and flies through it.

The half urges Maruna to take Ran and follow her. Maruna thanks the half and does as she asks. Watching them go, the half wishes that Maruna would learn to respect other lifeforms as well. She shifts her shape to that of Shuri. The portal closes behind Maruna as he follows closely behind Leez, holding Ran in his arms.

Episode 3-169[]

Season 3 Episode 169: The Weight of Time (9)

Maruna, who is carrying Ran in his arms, follows Leez through the void only to find that he cannot catch up with her. She mocks him for his slowness and disappears, leaving him and Ran alone in a white space full of scrolls.

Soon enough, Maruna recognizes Sagara floating among the scrolls and seemingly reading them. He wonders if he should alert her to his presence. At this moment Ran reveals that he had been awake for some time and intentionally pretended to be sleeping so that Maruna would carry him without feeling uncomfortable. Maruna realizes that since Sagara is floating, there is no need to continue carrying Ran, and drops him.

Maruna attempts to approach Sagara, but his body starts disappearing midway. Ran stops him and they speculate that they might travel in time once more if they cross the invisible barrier ahead. Ran and Maruna peak past the barrier only to see a space where the scrolls are all blank. They decide to cross over in hopes that it will bring them closer to the future they need to return to.

The space being unchanging, Maruna worries about Ran's mental health. Ran finds the concern touching and teases Maruna for it. After a back-and-forth where they argue whether Maruna cares about Ran's life under the current circumstances where Ran has lost the Eye of Perishment, Ran thanks Maruna and starts to tell him the story behind his strange power.

The mother of Ran's mother was a nastika named Hanuman. Ran was told this only now by the person who woke him up (Shuri), at which occasion he also learned that he possesses the heart of Yaksha himself. Shuri regrets being powerless to do anything despite knowing so much and despairs over the cruelty of "Time".

Ran wonders how he could have inherited a heart from his mother and if it can even be a heart in the literal sense, but Maruna explains that nastikas are able to take their hearts out of their bodies. As long as they do not regenerate, the heart can exist separately. He speculates that Hanuman must have retrieved the heart after Yaksha's death and passed it on to her descendents.

The paper Ran was holding onto suddenly rips apart and a group of malformed Taraka suras appears. Maruna snatches Ran out of the way and protects him with his wings.

Episode 3-170[]

Season 3 Episode 170: The Weight of Time (10)

Ran and Maruna wonder whether the malformed creatures before them are Tarakas. Although they resemble them by shape, they do not have Taraka eyes. They decide to avoid them and Maruna is forced to carry Ran again because Ran has trouble moving around in the space.

Suddenly, a Bhavati Marut spell slices the space nearby the two. They wonder who could be aiming at them. Noticing a shape in the distance, Maruna immediately proceeds to take sura form, Ran clutches onto the scruff of his neck.

Having become a larger target, Maruna draws the attention of the Tarakas(?) but he blows them all up with a powerful transcendental before they can even get near. A portal opens up in the vicinity and increases in size. Maruna, however, ignores it, and shifts his attention to the human who had just teleported right before them. He argues that there is a low chance that the portal will lead them to their destination, the human in front of them, however, is likely to have helpful information.

Soon enough, Ran recognizes the human as Asha Rahiro, who has short hair and wearing a cloak of Yaksha's fur. She greets him and criticizes him for accompanying a sura who has slaughtered so many. She proceeds to call out Ran for ignoring Leez's negative attitude towards that sura because he had not lost his family to him unlike her. This must mean that Ran lacks true empathy and only hypocritically tries to raise his self esteem by acting like he cares when it suits him.

She also mentions that empathy was a trait of the long gone ancient humans and the modern humans were intentionally created in a way so as this trait is suppressed. Thus they are predestined to act within their limitations. As she speaks of hypocrisy, two memories come to her mind. One is of her offering a gold coin to Leez. And the other is of Rao Leez giving a plushie to little Mirha as little Asha sits beside her.

Maruna thinks that Asha is going heavily off-topic and does not understand why Ran seems so affected by her words. He had hoped that Asha could have important information and wishes to capture her without killing her.

Since Asha suffered harm similar to Leez, she cannot ignore her enemy. She warns Ran to get away from Maruna unless he wishes to die. Maruna advises Ran to use the power of the heart and Asha notes that it seems like lifespan is not consumed in this space.

Asha launches an attack with the Vajra and Maruna blocks it with his hand, believing that a weapon of the same attribute as he possesses (sky) can hardly be of danger to him. Then he notices that Asha has a second weapon, a snake-like contraption. He attempts to snap Ran out of his stupification and asks if he knows about the nature of the weapon. Ran starts talking about the Vajra when Maruna's hand is suddenly completely torn off by Asha's weapon. She repeats her warning for Ran to get away from Maruna.

Episode 3-171[]

Season 3 Episode 171: The Weight of Time (11)

Maruna attacks Asha with a transcendental, but as Ran observantly notes, Asha seems to be absorbing the attacks instead of taking any damage. Ran attempts to convince Maruna to leave the fight and go through the open portal, and having failed, he flings the sura form Maruna into the portal before Maruna can even properly protest.

With Maruna gone, Ran approaches Asha and expresses worry about how her body seems to be disintegrating. Asha claims his sentiment is meaningless when he protects her enemy at the same time. She believes that Ran cannot understand why she is so enraged because he had never suffered the sort of damage she did. She hopes his thoughts will be different when they meet again in N23. As Asha turns to leave, for a second Ran thinks he sees what looks like Ananta standing beside her.

Beyond the portal, Maruna finds himself in a strange area formed of multiple floating cubes. He realizes that his hand is regenerating slowly as if it had been eaten, and refuses to accept that the human may have actually had a chance of defeating him. He chooses to wait for Ran to come through the portal as well so that they do not lose each other.

Suddenly, several lights pummel the ground and an old woman with a child in her arms runs away from them and towards Maruna. She rejoices to have found him, stating that she had been told that she would find help in this direction. She argues that the child does not understand its actions and should not be held responsible for its sins.

After the baby reaches out and heals Maruna's hand, he agrees to lead the two of them to the portal which he came through, though he warns them of the uncertainty of where they might end up. The old woman expresses her gratitude to Maruna and discloses that her name is Menaka. Although she cannot yet properly use her powers for she just received the name. And the little baby in her arms is Gandharva. Menaka believes that if nothing more, Gandharva will remember Maruna's kindness from this day.

Maruna reels from the revelation and curses his fate of ending up in the very beginning of the universe. To add to his shock, he realizes that the portal had closed before Ran had passed through. And since bad things come in threes, the group of beings who had been pursuing Menaka with the intention of killing Gandharva, now finds Maruna and confronts him. He turns around to recognize Indra, the king of the astikas, standing before him.

Episode 3-172[]

Season 3 Episode 172: The Weight of Time (12)

Maruna takes note of the gods standing behind Indra: Vayu, Varuna, and Kubera. They seem confused about Maruna's identity, mistaking him for a nastika. They feel as though he resembles Garuda and wonder if his head-tails are a part of Garuda's partial sura form.

Maruna chooses to gather his confidence and go along with the misconception. He declares himself to be Garuda and chastises them for their chatter. The gods seem to buy his act and ask if he saw someone pass by. Maruna informs them of the elderly woman with a child who passed through a portal that has already disappeared.

The gods confirm that Menaka is nowhere nearby and wonder how she could have managed to escape. Kubera suggests that she may have found a rift between dimensions which could have appeared due to the instability of the newly created universe. He opens up a rift between dimensions to allow the gods to continue in their chase.

However, once they all pass, Kubera closes the portal and stays. He catches up to Maruna who had been attempting to get away, and reveals that he is fully aware that Maruna is, in fact, not Garuda. And Indra is aware too. Kubera explains that Leez had arrived from the future before Maruna and revealed the situation. He tells Maruna to follow as he opens rifts through dimensions and takes Maruna to the dimension where he must wait for Ran.

They pass through many dimensions that will soon disappear as they are remnants of the former universe, until they find themselves in the human realm, the realm granted to the victors from the previous universe, the humans. Maruna is told to wait as he will meet Ran there eventually.

Episode 3-173[]

Season 3 Episode 173: The Weight of Time (13)

In narrative, Maruna recalls Kubera telling him that there are no gods and nastikas in the human realm yet and the humans will not attack first. Maruna spent a long time waiting and watching the world around him change, but eventually he got extremely bored. He felt the need to hear someone talk. And so he snuck close to a human village.

A small boy spotted him, as he was observing the simple life of the villagers, and insisted that Maruna come to their village. The boy was suprisingly strong and so Maruna followed. The villagers welcomed their guest with warmth and joy, even throwing a party in his honor.

Maruna helped them gather wood, he danced with a girl at the campfire, stepping on her feet at first, but eventually improving, and he also beat a man at arm wrestling. He thought it strange how cheerful all these humans were, not showing any sign of wariness or suspicion. They were much stronger than the current humans but also had no conflict among one another.

Maruna snuck out of the village but was noticed by the boy who had invited him. The boy assured him that he will always be welcome if he chooses to return. After that, Maruna met many groups of humans and he learned that the humans of that era all had very different shapes and other traits. As if they were a completely different race from the modern humans. No concept of superiority or inferiority existed among them and they all worked together for each other's good.

The strangeness of these humans made Maruna uncomfortable, as if he had nothing to give them. As if they were whole just the way they were. He chose to distance himself and continue waiting for Ran to return. Much more time passed when at one point Maruna witnessed three suras attacking a human village, squashing the humans to the ground.

Episode 3-174[]

Season 3 Episode 174: The Weight of Time (14)

A blonde woman sets down a heavily injured old man in a cave and insists to go back out and save his brothers. He asks her not to, that they would have died already and they will meet again in the next life. The woman argues that valuing every life is the very foundation of humanity.

When she departs, Maruna enters the cave. Not recognizing him, the dying man speaks of the suffering of humanity, getting trampled in each life, and of how it will eventually drive them all to madness. Then he passes away.

Two suras crush people outside while a Garuda clan sura watches. The Gandharva clan sura seems to be greatly enjoying the process. She mentions that along with the Yaksha clan sura, they first entered the human village in human form. However, the Yaksha was defeated in arm wrestling and one of the humans even touched its tail! The Gandharva clan sura speaks about how to maximize the thrill of hunting humans by toying with them and making them feel like they have a chance. Something she learned from her father.

The Garuda clan sura points out the blonde woman who had returned. The Gandharva clan sura recognizes her as one who she let escape so as to spread fear by alerting the other human villages. She looms over the woman and, though she cannot be heard, mocks the woman for throwing away her life. The Yaksha sura gets impatient and throws a boulder in the woman's direction to kill her.

At this point Maruna steps in front of the woman and breaks the boulder. The suras tell him to get out of their way. He asks whether they are on a mission or killing just for the fun of it. The Garuda clan sura reveals that although the other two came to play, she was tasked to kill all the humans on the planet.

When Maruna refuses to step back, the Garuda clan sura steps forth to fight him. The other suras warn Maruna that he has little chance against this rakshasa for she is the child of the king of the Garuda clan and the 2nd in command. Maruna sees a clear parallel between how this sura is treating him and between how he himself treated Yuta when he was protecting Leez. And regrets that he failed to understand Yuta at that time. Maruna takes sura form and clashes with the rakshasa.

Episode 3-175[]

Season 3 Episode 175: The Weight of Time (15)

Maruna and Raltara clash in combat. Maruna throws some transcendentals at her but she withstands the attack and quickly assesses his attributes. Both of them have a sky and light attribute, but Maruna's third attribute is fire, while Raltara's is destruction. She believes she has the advantage.

Maruna is surprised to see a Garuda with a destruction attribute since he had been told that there are no more suras with this attribute in his clan. Raltara uses a unique transcendental to bash him to the ground.

The observing suras feel that Raltara is overdoing it with such a powerful attack and are thus greatly impressed when they see that Maruna dodged all the attacks and remained unscathed. They note that he must be using a transcendental to increase his speed. Maruna is in fact using Latent Force, which allows a sura who stayed in one stage of development for over 500 years to temporarily access the power of their next stage.

Maruna recognizes he needs to end the fight quickly before his transcendental runs out and he attacks Raltara with a barrage of kicks and punches. However, Raltara uses a shielding transcendental and none of the attacks connect. Maruna recognizes that he must wait for when she uses an attack transcendental as her shield will weaken at that moment.

The observing suras stare at Raltara's struggle in disbelief. They consider helping but reconsider when they recall that Raltara hates being interrupted. The Gandharva clan sura spots the human woman hiding nearby and grins.

Maruna finally lands the crucial blow and breaks Raltara's shield. He gets ready to land the finishing blow when he recalls how his mother told him that his other siblings were removed for his sake and that he must do his best to be a good brother to his new siblings.

He holds back from landing the blow and orders Raltara to stop killing humans. She laughs at his weakness and uses a transcendental that changes them both to human form. She grabs him by the collar and acknowledges his strength. She speculates that Maruna's parents must have kept him out of sight and suspects that he is a child of Garuda. She asks who his parents are.

Episode 3-176[]

Season 3 Episode 176: The Weight of Time (16)

As Maruna hesitates to reveal whom his parents are to Raltara, they are interrupted by the Gandharva clan sura carrying the blonde human in her mouth. Raltara clarifies that she excluded the human from her transcendental on a whim and intends to let her live. She orders the other rakshasas to return and explains that the council of nastikas has ordered rakshasas from all clans to massacre humans.

Maruna sees little worth in killing those who are weaker but Raltara describes the situation in which rakshasas are seen as weak by nastikas and get ripped apart for the slightest slip of tongue.

Raltara chooses to leave Maruna alone for she fears he might have a strong nastika backing him. She warns the Gandharva clan rakshasa not to ask around for his identity. She introduces herself to Maruna and challenges him to see who reaches 5th stage first. The rakshasas leave through a portal.

The blonde human approaches Maruna and expresses her gratitude. Maruna feels embarrassed that the human might be interpreting his reasons wrong and admits he completely forgot about her existence during the fight, but he chooses to stay with her.

They met humans who knew to be cautious of suras, but even so, they never showed anything but kindness to Maruna and worried for his safe-being. Maruna eventually began to teach them about math and physics, and though they were ignorant at first, the humans soon exceeded his level.

Having gotten older, the blonde woman expresses her hopes that she could make Maruna happy at least a little bit. She tells him that even if humans find the means to defend themselves eventually, they will never discriminate against suras who did them no harm and she hopes Maruna remains among them.

After the woman died to an illness, Maruna returned to his travelling. However, he decided that idly waiting would be too much to bare and so he chose to wander in hopes of finding Ran. Over time, the humans of the past became much more advanced.

Episode 3-177[]

Season 3 Episode 177: The Weight of Time (17)

The planet has become far more advanced. Maruna, dressed in human clothing, steps out of a method of transport. He thinks to himself that he should thank Raltara if he ever gets to meet her because she did not tell any other suras about him.

A black-haired girl notices him, recognizes him as someone who saved her 40 years ago, and rushes to catch up with him. The humans she was speaking to comment that she must have spotted someone who she knew in a previous life.

Maruna notes that the humans each have a special skill, but they use no magic or transcendentals. They have no malice and require no punishments. A man calls him over and suggests if Maruna wants to marry his niece and starts asking if Maruna had his coming of age ceremony. Maruna concludes that he must leave soon.

When the ancient humans reach the age of 24, they go through a ceremony that allows them to remember their previous lives. Regardless, they are able to prioritize their current life and leave the past behind with the exceptions of situation where they suffered a violent death and carried on grudges to their next life. In such cases, the humans would sympathize and bond to destroy the culprit. Maruna also finds it odd that he meets very few humans with such memories compared to the amount that was slaughtered.

The woman catches up to Maruna and stops him. She introduces herself and says that Maruna saved her from a sura raid in her previous life. She tells him that she wanted to let him know that she is happy in case he was sad about her fate. Maruna does not recognize her and writes that he does not care. A tear is in the girl's eye as Maruna leaves.

Maruna boards a shuttle and contemplates whether he should distance himself from humans again, but concludes that he would feel too lonely should he do that. Suddenly an icy tentacle breaks the shuttle rails. Underwater, Gandharva is clutching Raltara. He blames the death of three of his children on her not slaughtering all the humans on the planet and threatens to eat her and all her siblings if she does not rectify this mistake.

Episode 3-178[]

Season 3 Episode 178: The Weight of Time (18)

Maruna escaped from the exploded train and hid in a cave. He only managed to save one human, but the human is in a state where he couldn't survive, and so Maruna decides to kill him out of mercy.

Maruna guesses that Gandharva himself might be at the planet, though he feels it would be strange for god Kubera to bring him there to wait for Ran Sairofe if this was one of the planets that were about to be destroyed by Gandharva. He is planning to slip away unnoticed and leave the planet when a wave hits the shore and Raltara emerges. She is injured and bleeding and she is limping in the direction of the human city.

The black-haired human girl tells her co-workers at the sura defense tower that the person who she ran after in an attempt to thank him was the sura who saved many people on the planet. She recalls the times when he would teach the humans about the workings of the universe and complain about being called old by them. She also shares knowledge about gods with her fellow humans. These are far stronger than rakshasas and generally friendly towards humans. The humans wonder, how then is it possible that they had never seen a god before and that these powerful beings never helped them when they were suffering. One of them has a vague memory of how god Kubera brought them into this realm when they were created.

Maruna warns Raltara that she stands no chance to survive the defensive mechanisms of the humans. She says she is aware of that but she hopes that if she shows that she did her best, perhaps Gandharva will acknowledge that and will not eat her siblings. Her mother had died and since then she and her siblings have lost the backing of their father. Maruna suggests a way to help her.

Maruna comes to the sura defense tower asking for the black-haired girl.

Episode 3-179[]

Season 3 Episode 179: The Weight of Time (19)

The black-haired woman gives Maruna a tour of the sura defense tower and shoos away some colleagues teasing her about Maruna being her boyfriend.

In his thoughts, Maruna considers that Gandharva must be threatening Raltara purely for enjoyment rather than because he would care about his deceased children. He concludes that the only way to make Gandharva lose interest would be to get rid of the sura defense tower.

The girl leads Maruna to the common room and explains how the defense tower works. It uses the power from the attack of a sura and reflects it back. As a result, only the suras persistent in attacking will be killed by the tower. Although the tower would have enough extra energy to launch an attack of its own, humans see value in all lives and allow the suras to escape if that is their decision.

The girl gets some food for herself and since Maruna finds it uncomfortable, he steps into the next room to wait for her to finish. Maruna goes to the core defense mechanism. He believes that the humans are doomed either way for Gandharva will kill them as long as he considers them interesting, and the only way to get him to lose interest would be to destroy the tower, which would lead to their death also. However the second option may allow for Raltara to be saved.

But then he realizes that Raltara has no future. Neither she or the humans are remembered in the future so why prioritize one over the other. Furthermore, he does not feel the desire to be directly responsible for the humans' deaths.

Maruna recalls his earlier encounter with God Kubera and suddenly realizes that he has another option. He breaks a hole into the defense tower and flies off, calling for Kubera to appear. Kubera blocks his way with a wall of earth and criticizes Maruna's stupidity should he reveal himself to Gandharva.

Episode 3-180[]

Season 3 Episode 180: The Weight of Time (20)

Maruna refuses to act as a pawn and tells Kubera to destroy the defense tower himself if he needs it done. Then he asks Kubera to come up with a way to save the humans. Kubera ponders that Maruna has changed considerably but he regretfully informs Maruna that there is no way to save those humans. He hints that the humans were abandoned by the creator from the very beginning and this realm will serve as a tomb to them.

Brahma passes through the sura defense tower and destroys it all, blowing her bubblegum as she goes. The tower crumbles and burries people under. Brahma complains about having to make such an effort.

The dying black-haired girl grabs Brahma by her skirt and begs her to call for help. Brahma callously responds that there is no point in worrying when they will all die.

Kubera reveals to Maruna that the ancient humans do not exist in the future because Brahma does not acknowledge them and that Brahma herself has interfered in this scenario. He advises Maruna to go save Raltara because that is the only thing he can still do in this situation.

Brahma mocks the girl for letting a sura inside, stating that trusting a sura to stand with humans was foolish. She tells the girl to fight against the suras with all her might in her following lives and not to embarrass her who once considered them her finest creations. The girl is dead by the end of the speech. Brahma muses that the goodwill of the humans was a fatal flaw and emphasizes the pain of needing to destroy her creations.

When Raltara sees that the defense tower is damaged, she takes the chance to attack. Thankfully, the defense mechanism is disabled. She thanks Maruna for making it so and tells him to stay back while she kills the rest of the humans.

Episode 3-181[]

Season 3 Episode 181: The Weight of Time (21)

Maruna feels extremely pained to see the humans die, a sentiment that surprises him. Menaka appears before him, stating that Kubera told her of the situation and that Maruna needs to leave. She promises to ensure Raltara's survival. Maruna asks Menaka if she regrets protecting Gandharva. Menaka believes Gandharva can change for even Maruna's eyes are very different from when they first met. She believes the only way to make up for sin is to live and atone.

In the god realm some gods are gossiping that a new god who had trouble learning to control his powers has arrived from hell. They speak about the need to find a suitable human to serve him and chatter about his appearance and preferences.

A human girl gets led away by the gods. Apparently her memories resurfaced spontaneously without a coming of age ceremony because they were so traumatic. The girl cannot but remember Brahma's face mocking her before her death. The gods decide to throw her down a pit so that her soul will get destroyed and its pieces will become a power source for plants and animals. Letting humans with such traumatic memories reincarnate is dangerous.

Agni catches the girl before she can drop to the ground.

Episode 3-182[]

Season 3 Episode 182: The Weight of Time (22)

Varuna herself tells Agni to let go of the girl and pick someone more suitable. The girl asks Agni to save her and so he declares she is the servant he chose. He believes a girl who knows a lot can be of best assistance to him who knows little because he was locked away for so long.

Yama informs Agni and the girl that the planet where she died in her previous life is still inhabited because Menaka made Gandharva leave. A sura from the Garuda clan was allegedly behind the attack but Yama is certain that the grudges of the humans whose souls he forgot to destroy will lead to that sura dying miserably. He suggests that rakshasas often have no choice but to follow nastikas, but the girl should not worry about that sura regardless.

Yama's servant asks for vacation for she feels uncomfortable having to destroy so many souls only for the sake of the humans not reincarnating with grudges. Yama ponders that it should not matter if he misses some souls because he has doubts if the universe can truly be protected by trying to erase grudges by crushing souls.

The girl makes Agni learn high-level mathematics and educate himself. She is in wonder before a library where all books written by humans can be found, even if they do not physically exist anymore. They can help her learn how to increase the strength of humans but she also feels as though they are a way for the humans who existed to be remembered.

To the question of why the gods did not help humans against the suras sooner, Agni explains that the gods needed to secure power sources from souls to build up the universe. Now the situation has changed and the gods are working with humans. There is no way to reverse the past and so Agni believes they must work to be better in the future.

Many gods, including Vayu, Surya, Visnu, and Brahma, observe as the girl serves as Agni's assistent. When the girl's term as a servant ends, she decides to apply again in her next life. And the one after. And the one after that as well.

A thousand years later Ran Sairofe climbs out of a portal hoping to find Maruna. He sees a grand city and recognizes that he is not on Willarv. Original Airavata asks him if he is a Yaksha and cheerfully asks him to go check out the human city with them. Alongside her are Yaksha and another nastika.
