"Harry had never in all his life had such a Christmas dinner. A hundred fat, roast turkeys; mountains of roast and boiled potatoes; platters of chipolatas; tureens of buttered peas, silver boats of thick, rich gravy and cranberry sauce"
Harry Potter viewing the Christmas Feast in 1991[src]

Turkey is meat from the domesticated creature of the same name. It was served as a dish at the Yule Ball,[3] and the Welcoming Feast, among other occasions.

History[]

In 1991, over one hundred fat, roast turkeys were presented for the Hogwarts Christmas feast, despite the limited number of guests. Much of it was enjoyed at a latter meal as turkey sandwiches.[1] There were also turkeys at the End-of-Term Feast of 1993.[4]

When Harry Potter saw Fawkes for the first time, on a Burning Day, the phoenix's appearance was said to resemble "a half-plucked turkey".[5]

During the Calamity by at least the 2010s, a Calamity Investigator working for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force was assigned to a specialised Task Force research detachment assigned to explore the relationship between food, flavour, and magical capability. As a part of this detachment, the Investigator made several important discoveries that helped to change how turkey legs were seasoned at wizarding inns worldwide, earning them the praise of wizarding innkeepers.[6]

Behind the scenes[]

  • In the "Fantastic Feasts" event in Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells, small, medium, and large size of the turkey dish respectively requires the following ingredients:
    • Vegetables: 8, 15, 32
    • Meat slices: 4, 10, 20
