Pro Face-Off game mode in Guitar Hero II.
Pro Face-Off is a type of multiplayer mode, where all available players play an entire song together, unlike Face-Off where players take turns playing certain parts of a song. The objective to win a Pro Face-Off match is to get the highest score and with everyone sharing the same note chart (unless if on different difficulties).
When playing Pro Face-Off in the older Guitar Hero games, a meter sits in the center of the screen, between the two note highways. Initially, a needle sits at the center of the meter, and as the song progresses, the needle leans towards the player with the current highest score.
Participants on difficulties lower than participants on higher difficulty would earn more score per note hit. This scaling exists to allow lower-leveled players to have a chance to win against Expert-leveled players.
Pro Face-Off made its first appearance in Guitar Hero II, and can only be unlocked by completing Career on Medium or harder. In later games, Pro Face-Off game mode is unlocked from the start.
