As came the popularity of the Guitar Hero series, peaking at Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock' release, the Guitar Hero franchise spawned various merchandise outside the video games, including action figures of popular Guitar Hero III characters and other toys.
Many action figures based on popular characters of the Guitar Hero series were created and manufactured by McFarlane Toys and were released in waves from 2008 to 2009.
As action figures, the character models' limbs can be manipulated into various poses ranging from radical poses to silly poses and more.

Guitar Hero Series 1[]

Guitar Hero Series 1 Action Figure — Axel Steel
The first wave of Guitar Hero Action Figures, referred to as Guitar Hero Series 1 by McFarlanes, was distributed in October 2008 with suggested retail prices ranging between $10 USD and $15 USD.[1][2] These actions were roughly 6-inches in size and each character came with a miniature guitar toy that could be swapped out with other miniature guitar models of similar size including those from the 2009 Mix & Match Guitars. Characters included in the 2008 Guitar Hero Series 1 were Axel Steel, God of Rock, Johnny Napalm, and Lars Umlaut. Each character were 6-inches. Repaints of characters were distributed in November 2008.[2]

Guitar Hero 2009, Wave 1[]
The next wave of Guitar Hero Action Figures, referred to as Guitar Hero 2009, Wave 1 by McFarlanes, was distributed in February 2009 with suggested retail prices ranging between $10 USD and $14 USD.[3][4][5] Like with the 2008 Series 1 action figures, 2009 Wave 1 action figures were roughly 6-inches in size and each character came with a miniature guitar toy that could be swapped out with other miniature guitar models of similar size including those from the 2009 Mix & Match Guitars. Characters included in the Guitar Hero 2009 Wave 1 series were Izzy Sparks, Slash, Judy Nails, Lou, and Metalhead, however, Lou's release was canceled.[6]
10-Inch Guitar Hero Wave 1[]
10-Inch Guitar Hero Wave 1 action figures were distributed in February 2009. As these action figure models are larger than the 6-inch models, scaling around 10-inches, the 2009 Mix & Match guitars are not compatible with the 10-inch action figure models.
