Cheek to Cheek by Fred Astaire is featured in Puppet Master, the seventh episode of Season Five. It is sung by Sue and Will.
When Will offers to teach Sue how to dance backwards in heels in exchange for money for nationals costumes, Sue refuses and Will leaves her alone in the choir room, where she is sitting in the same spot Blaine and Jake sat earlier. Suddenly, she too slips under a gas leak-induced fantasy sequence where she and Will dance and sing together to this song.
Lyrics[]
Will:
Heaven, I'm in Heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek
Sue and Will:
Heaven, I'm in Heaven
And the cares that hung around me through the week
Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streak
When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek
Will:
Oh! I love to climb a mountain
And to reach the highest peak
Sue and Will:
But it doesn't thrill me half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek
Sue (Will):
Oh! I love to go out fishing (Go out fishing)
In a river or a creek (Or a creek)
Will:
But I don't enjoy it half as much
Sue and Will:
As dancing cheek to cheek
Will (Sue):
Dance with me (Dance with me)
I want my (with Sue: arm about you)
Sue and Will:
The charm about you
Will carry me through to
Will (Sue):
Heaven (Heaven)
I'm in Heaven (Heaven)
And my (with Sue: heart beats so that I can hardly speak)
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
Sue and Will:
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek
Will:
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
Sue and Will:
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek
Trivia[]
- As Mister Monotony was cut from its episode, this is the first official canon (but not the first official recorded) duet between Will and Sue.
- This is the second Fred Astaire song sung by Will, and also the second duet. Coincidentally, both performances were filmed in black and white. (the first one is You're All The World To Me).
