Carlton "Carl" Reiner (March 20, 1922 – June 29, 2020) was an American stand-up comedian, actor, director, producer, screenwriter, author, singer, dancer, rapper, voice artist, and comedian, whose career spanned seven decades, receiving numerous awards and honors.
Reiner wrote more than two dozen books, mostly in his later years. He is the father of actor-director Rob Reiner, author Annie Reiner, and artist Lucas Reiner, and the grandfather of Tracy Reiner.
On June 29, 2020, Reiner died from natural causes at his home in Beverly Hills, California at the age of 98.
For DreamWorks, he performed the voice of Sarmoti in Father of the Pride, and Santa in Merry Madagascar and The Penguins of Madagascar.
