Characters[]

  • Poppy - the sweet, fearless, cheerful and optimistic, yet also naïve and dimwitted princess, and later queen, of the Trolls.
  • Branch - an over-cautious and pessimistic Troll survivalist who has a secret crush on Poppy. He is short-tempered, egotistical, selfish, cold-hearted, disgruntled, unkind, spoiled, arrogant and cruel, but later, he is revealed to be much nicer and kinder, and becomes Poppy's best friend and love interest throughout the film's ending.
  • Wacky - a crazy woodpecker who has an appreciation for humor. His immaturity tends to annoy those around him at times.
  • Sleepy - a perpetually drowsy bear who is at times less concerned about what's happening around him, and more so about taking a nap. He can be cranky and rebellious when someone disturbs him while sleeping. Despite that, he is protective, helpful, and a good friend.
  • Judie - an aristocratic fieldmouse with an English accent who tries to make her friends behave in a proper manner and is completely annoyed by Poppy's optimism. She tends to be narcissistic at times, but will still remain loyal to her friends no matter what. She later falls in love with Reynard.
  • Archer - a hare with a Scottish accent who has a habit of being mean, selfish, jerkass, greedy, shaggy, arrogant and short-tempered but also kinder, well-meaning and caring. Throughout the film, he thinks that optimists are idiots just for not seeing reality, calling Poppy and her friends "idiots".
  • Lulabelle - a rabbit who is carefree and romantical. She is also a true matchmaker, and recognizes Branch's secret crush on Poppy as true love.
  • Handy - a beaver who has a talent for building things. He always does his best to be helpful around others.
  • Reynard - a water rat with a grumpy attitude and a short temper. Despite usually being stubborn, he still has a good heart even if he doesn't show it often. He later falls in love with Judie.
  • King Gristle - the prince-turned-king of the Ogres.
  • Bridget - a kind-hearted Ogre who works as a scullery maid to the Chef and has feelings for Gristle.
  • The Chef - a mean-spirited, power-hungry unnamed Ogre chef who is in charge of Troll preparation.
  • Creek - a Troll with a "positive" personality and "zen"-like wisdom. He is later revealed to be a coward, a liar, a faker and a traitor willing to betray all the other Trolls just so he won't be eaten.
  • Biggie - a chubby friendly Troll who always carries his pet worm, Mr. Dinkles.
  • Cooper - a giraffe-like Troll who doesn't sing but raps and walks on all fours.
  • Satin and Chenille - two fashion-loving twin Trolls who are joined by their hair.
  • Guy Diamond - a glittery silver Troll who always sings and sneezes out glitter.
  • DJ Suki - the Trolls' resident disk jockey who uses DJ equipment made of insects.
  • Smidge - a small female Troll with a masculine voice.
  • Fuzzbert - a hair Troll with two legs.
  • King Peppy - the king of the Trolls and Poppy's father.
  • King Gristle Sr. - the ruler of the Ogres at the start of the film.
  • Chad and Todd - Gristle's comic relief royal guards.
  • Lancy, Rascal and Battly - the Chef's henchanimals. They make their 9th appearance in a DreamWorks animated film.
