Vanessa Carlysle is a character originating from Marvel Comics, who first appeared in Deadpool and Deadpool 2. She is Wade Wilson/Deadpool's ex-fiancée, but they eventually get back together.

Vanessa met Wade Wilson when he went to the bar and they quickly fell in love. After a year together, Wade proposed, which Vanessa accepted and they learnt he had contracted cancer. They reconciled a year later after Vanessa had learnt Wade had become known as Deadpool and his treatment helped him deal with the cancer, but she died shortly after they discussed starting a family together. Struggling with Vanessa's death, Deadpool found a way to travel back in time prior to her death, but they were still together. However, they split up at some time before Wade's birthday.
Personality[]
Vanessa is often seen to be very similar to Deadpool. She enjoys his zaniness and shares his interest in pop culture. Not one to be a damsel in distress, Vanessa can be tough and hold her own when the situation calls for it. When Wade vanishes after learning he has cancer, she believes him to be dead and mourns for him as he was the only man she truly loved. A sign of how much she loved him is that she wears the coat he was wearing when they first met.

Vanessa appears in this film with Morena Baccarin reprising her role from the Fox films. In a flashback, it's revealed Vanessa broke up with Wade sometime before 2024, but they managed to remain friends despite his heartbreak. Vanessa attends Wade's birthday party with Blind Al and their other friends, where it is revealed Vanessa has a new boyfriend named Dermot. Vanessa is mentioned later in the film when Deadpool and Wolverine are stuck in the void and Wolverine says that Wade couldn't maintain a relationship with Vanessa even though she was a stripper. This pushes Deadpool over the edge and fights Wolverine. At the end of the film. Vanessa is seen again when Deadpool and Wolverine return to Earth-10005, where they continue the birthday party. Its revealed that Vanessa is no longer with Dermot, and she and Wade smile lovingly at each other. They start talking again and Wade expresses his desire to get back together with Vanessa, who returns his feelings by taking his hand as they spend the evening with their friends, including Wade's new friend, Logan.
