I'm a black man carrying the stars and stripes, what don't I understand? Every time I pick this thing up, I know there are millions of people out there who are gonna hate me for it. Even here, now I feel it. The stares, the judgement and there's nothing I can do to change it and I'm still here. No super serum, no blonde hair or blue eyes. The only power I have is that I believe we can do better.
Sam Wilson's speech

"One World, One People" is the sixth and final episode of the Disney+ streaming television series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. It aired on April 23, 2021.

Synopsis[]

As The Flag Smashers escalate their actions, Sam and Bucky take action.

Plot[]

As the Flag Smashers raid the GRC meeting, Sam, adorned in his new Captain America costume, flies to the rescue with Bucky and Sharon also arriving to help. Sam takes on Batroc while Bucky chases after a pair of convoys carrying the GRC to safety as Flag Smasher members follow them. Sharon kills Lennox and informs Sam that the remaining GRC politicians are being taken away via helicopter that has been hijacked by Diego. Sam knocks out Batroc before fleeing after the helicopter. Diego attempts to distract Sam by knocking over a police copter, but Sam saves them as his actions are viewed by everyone.

Karli and the Flag Smashers try to burn the convoys with the GRC inside, but Bucky arrives to fight them. Walker, wearing his uniform and carrying his new shield, joins the fight. Bucky manages to save one of the convoys, but Karli takes the other one and tries to ride it into a construction area. Using Redwing, Sam manages to determine that one of the politicians is a pilot and knocks Diego into the Hudson long enough for the politician to grab the controls. Walker gives up his vendetta against Karli to save the second convoy, but the Flag Smashers prevent him, only for Sam to save them.

Angered that her plan failed, Karli and the Flag Smashers flee underground with Sam, Bucky and Walker in pursuit. Bucky and Walker head off and arrest the Flag Smashers while Karli runs into Sharon and Batroc. It is revealed that Sharon is the Power Broker and that Batroc was hired to spy on her. A standoff between the three commences with Batroc getting killed and Sharon getting injured. Sam arrives and tries to qualm Karli who refuses to back down. Just as she is about to shoot Sam, who refuses to fight back, Sharon catches her second wind and shoots and kills Karli, who dies in Sam's arms.

Afterwards, Sam confronts the GRC politicians and demand that they take responsibility for their actions; adding that he is well aware how difficult it is to make decisions. His speech to them is seen by everyone as he is publicly accepted by everyone as the new Captain America, including Isaiah. The remaining Flag Smashers are killed by Zemo's butler while he is still in prison. Later, Walker is hired by Valentina for his new job and new moniker as U.S. Agent. Bucky finally tells the truth to Yori about the death of his son and gives his book back to Dr. Raynor. Sam visits Isaiah and Eli and takes them to the Captain America museum and reveals the new exhibit dedicated to Isaiah. Sam and Bucky celebrate with the residents of New Orleans as the title to the series now reads Captain America and the Winter Soldier.

In the mid-credits scene, Sam keeps his promise as Sharon is pardoned by the U.S. government and offered her job back. As she leaves the courthouse, she reveals that she now has access to government files to continue her Power Broker plans.

Trivia[]

  • When Bucky, Sam, and John are fighting the Flag Smashers, Bucky ends up running backwards and uses his vibrainium arm to stop himself from falling. He did the exact same thing when he fought Steve Rogers in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on the bridge.
  • At the end of the episode, the series is renamed Captain America and the Winter Soldier.
  • Sam telling Karli he isn't going to fight her is the same thing Steve told Bucky in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
  • The ending strongly implies that Steve has died.
  • There was the possibility of Spider-Man appearing during the fight in New York City, but Kevin Feige decided against the idea.[1]
  • There is a deleted, alternate version of the final scene where Bucky asks Sam if Sarah asked about him, and Sam refers to Bucky as "Uncle Winter Soldier".[2]
