Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer is an American animated television series that premiered on Disney XD in June 3, 2017.[1] It is created and executive produced by Aaron Springer, an animation veteran, whose extensive credits include working on Dexter's Laboratory, SpongeBob SquarePants, Samurai Jack, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder, and the current run of Mickey Mouse shorts.[2] Springer was also behind the Adult Swim pilot Korgoth of Barbaria.

Development[]
The show was first announced in 2014 as a potential pilot.[3] In March 2016, it was confirmed that Disney XD has greenlit the show for a full series.[2]
In 2015, Merriwether Williams was confirmed in a Twitter post by Vincent Waller as one of the show's writers, whilst character designer Robertryan Cory announced on his Facebook page he has been working on the series for over a year before the pickup was officially sealed.
The reason for the series' short run was due to the fact that the former heads at Disney Channel had greenlit the series along with other unproduced projects Very Important House and The Douglas Furs. However shortly following this, new heads took over and immediately cut the series down from 20 episodes to 13, while cancelling the previous two announced shows.
Trivia[]
- Jessica McKenna was originally going to voice the character Billy Dilley, but was replaced by creator Aaron Springer for unknown reasons.
- Ashley Johnson was originally going to voice Judy, but she was replaced by Sarah-Nicole Robles also for unknown reasons.
