"Bluddle-Uddle-Um-Dum" (also known as "The Dwarfs' Washing Song") is a song featured in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It is performed by the dwarfs, led by Doc, as they wash their faces and hands (under Snow White's orders, so they can have their supper).
This song was included on two Sing-Along videos: I Love to Laugh! and Collection of All Time Favorites: The Early Years.
Grumpy sits on a barrel nearby, refusing to join in while teasing the others for taking orders from Snow White. Eventually, the others grab him and throw him into the trough, washing him vigorously and added bows and a flower headband after washing him, much to his anger as he tells them that they'll pay for their antics.
As this is happening, Dopey accidentally swallows a bar of soap and hiccups soapy bubbles as a result; the hiccups persist for the rest of the song until one big hiccup drives Dopey's head down into his tunic, and a final, tiny hiccup forces out a large bubble that carries his hat into the air.
Other visual gags during the song include a fly washing itself on a bar of soap, two dwarfs using another dwarf as a towel, and Doc knocking Dopey into the trough before scrubbing his rear end.
The song ends when Snow White calls the dwarfs down for supper as they leave Grumpy in the trough and Dopey with the soap in his belly.
Lyrics[]
Doc: Come on, now men.
Sneezy: How hard do you scrub?
Sleepy: Will our whiskers shrink?
Happy: Do you get in the tub?
Bashful: Do you have to wash where it doesn't show?
Doc: Now, now, don't get excited. Here we go.
Step up to the tub - 'Tain't no disgrace
Just pull up your sleeves and get 'em in place
Then scoop up the water and rub it on your face
And go brrr, brrr, brrr
Pick up the soap - now, don't try to bluff
Work up a lather, an' when ya got enough
Get your hands full of water, ya snort and ya snuff
And go brrr, brrr, brrr
Ya douse and ya souse
Rub and ya scrub
Ya sputter and splash all over the tub
You may be cold and wet when you're done
But ya gotta admit it's good clean fun
So splash all ya like - 'Tain't any trick
As soon as you're through you'll feel mighty slick
Grumpy: Bunch of old nanny goats, ya make me sick
Goin' brrr, brrr, brrr
(Later, as the Dwarfs are forcibly washing Grumpy)
Doc: Now scrub good and hard, it can't be denied
That he'll look mighty cute as soon as he's dried
Dwarfs: But it's good for the soul and it's good for the hide to go
Grumpy: Brrr, brrr, brrr
If ya wanta be neat an' ya wanta be clean,
Here's a break for you.
Listen close while I explain
Exactly what to do.
Step up to the tub it ain't no disgrace,
Pull up your sleeve an' get them in place.
Scoop up the water an' rub it on your face an' go
Bluddle-uddle-uddle-uddle-um-dum.
Now pick up the soap an' don't try to bluff,
Work up a lather an' when ya' got enough
With your mouth full of water ya' snort an' ya' snuff and go
Bluddle-uddle-uddle-uddle-um-dum.
Ya' douse an' ya souse. Ya' rub an' ya' scrub.
Ya' sputter an' splash all over the tub.
Although you're cold an' wet when you're done,
Ya' gotta admit that it's good clean fun,
So splash all ya' like, it can't be denied,
You'll feel mighty slick as soon as you're dried
For it's good for the soul and it's good for the hide t' go
Bluddle-uddle-uddle-uddle-um-dum.
