CANNONBOROUGH/ELLIOTBOROUGH — D.C.-based Makan now has a second location in the Lowcountry. The Malaysian restaurant opens on June 14 with a menu unique to Charleston. Chef James Wozniuk emphasized to Eater that he wants Makan’s South Carolina location to feature more local seafood. The ikan asam pedas, a Malaysian hot and sour fish curry, is a must-try if you like spice. There’s also rendand daging (dry beef curry), curry mee (noodle soup with chicken sausage), and kerabu mangga (mango salad). 210 Rutledge Avenue; website.

MAZYCK-WRAGGBOROUGH — Neighborhood Dining Group opened its modern steakhouse, Marbled & Fin, on June 12. The dining room is expansive with contemporary art on the walls, an exposed wine cellar, pops of pink from smooth salmon booths, plants sprouting from every corner, and a luxurious bar accented by glowing lights above it. On the menu, Chef Eucepe “Cepe” Puntriano included all the steakhouse classics plus an emphasis on seafood dishes for non-meat eaters. Look for seafood towers, wedge salads, wagyu beef, bone marrow with oysters, creamed spinach, and more. 480 East Bay Street; website.

SUMMERVILLE — Garlic crab spot Vinnie’s Seafood & Soul settled into a new location in Summerville with plenty of blue crabs, fried chicken, ribs, turkey wings, and more. 140 Hemphill Court; Facebook.

MONCKS CORNER — Barbecue joint Swig & Swine opened its fifth location in Moncks Corner with all the same smoked meats that customers love. 1990 Old Trolley Road; website.

NOMO — Chef Micheal Toscano of Le Farfalle and Da Toscano Porchetta Shop opened Da Toscano Fugazzi at Revelry Brewing Co. with “unauthentic Italian-inspired Americana” fare. The menu offers beer-friendly foods like wings in a Calabrian chili Buffalo sauce, a porchetta Cubano, disco fries topped with vodka sauce, and saltimbocca baby back ribs. 10 Conroy Street; website.

PARK CIRCLE — The team from downtown bar Dalila’s opened a fun new spot in Park Circle. Sissy Bar takes inspiration from Southern California, from mezcal drinks to breakfast burritos to a massive barbacoa taco platter. Bring friends to sample all the sharable plates. 1067 East Montague Avenue; Instagram.
