Abbracci Offers Warming Italian Dishes, Plus More Lowcountry Openings This Fall

A petite wine bar, another Italian stunner, and a French countryside hangout

Here are some noteworthy restaurants opening around Charleston this fall season.

North Mount Pleasant Gets a New Italian Spot

Restaurateurs Don and Joanne Migliori opened Abbracci Italian Cuisine & Cocktails (1146 Muhlenbergia Drive) on Friday, November 8. Chef Devin Sansone puts out dishes like rigatoni with pork ragu, ricotta gnocchi. margherita pizzas, traditional cioppino, gelato, and more. Plus, the restaurant has a fire pit lounge area for chilly nights.

Tiny Wine Bar Opens on Line Street

When coffee shop Sightsee left for a larger space, neighbors Meggie and Quinn Burns saw an opportunity to turn the 429-square-foot space into a cozy wine bar. Roseline (125 1/2 Line Street) is a dark, moody space to sip wines by the glass, craft beers, and sake. There will also be meat and cheese boards from Tinto Cafe and Provisions.

Italian Imports on Upper King

Legami (492 King Street) is a new Italian restaurant boasting a chef brought in from Rome by a family with roots in Turin, Italy. Chef Andrea Congiusta cooks modern Italian fare with some influences from France. “We took inspiration from the classic fine dining, but we also want to have something fun, something that looks very fancy, and something you can crave,” says Congiusta. Dishes include king crab tagliolini, beef Wellington, and veal Milanese.

Take a Trip to the South of France

French restaurant Félix now has an adjoining bar named La Cave (550 King Street), which is a tribute to the south of France. The drink menu lists ten craft cocktails, including a martini with a fromage fat-washed vodka and caviar crisp garnish. There’s also a section of hard-to-find whiskies. Food selections range from oysters and caviar to a petite bouillabaisse and a duck confit gnocchi. Customers can also order a smaller version of the popular raclette burger from Félix.

Colder Temps Mean It’s Time for Soup Dumplings

Charleston is going crazy for soup dumplings, and newcomer Chef Loong Dim Sum (1662 Savannah Highway) delivers. The restaurant offers four flavors (pork soup, chicken soup, pork tomato soup, and truffle pork soup). The rest of the menu is extensive, with selections ranging from Sichuan mala chicken, crab rangoon, dan dan noodles, mapo tofu, and more.

Shots, Shots, Shots, Shots, Shots, Shots

Proof isn’t new, but 100 Proof (437 King Street) is the updated version of the cocktail bar. Proof was a 10-minute-libation spot, whereas 100 Proof is all about slammable shots. Owner Craig Nelson teamed up with Rec Room owner Boston DiMattia to create a lively party place for all the Upper King revelers. The list of 100 shots ranges from the popular green tea to classic Vieux Carre in shot format.

Gumbo and Beignets in Summerville

Restaurateur Nigel Drayton recently opened New Orleans-inspired spot Nola’s Creole and Soul (9770 Dorchester Road). The menu includes beignets, gumbo, crab balls, shrimp boils, and more.
