BSAC is a are a global network of medics, scientists and specialists, working with our members to ensure the availability of effective antimicrobial treatment for future generations. As a learned society and charity, our mission is to work alongside others to provide high-quality open access support to those who need it most.

We are classed under the GDPR regulations as a data controller. That means we decide how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

1.2 How do we collect information from you?

We obtain information about you when you use our website(s), for example, register to join the Society, register for an event, register for one of our e-Learning courses, or if you register to receive one of our regular newsletters.

The personal information we collect might include your title, first name, surname, gender, date of birth, address, email address, phone number.

We may also collect information relating to your employment, including where you are currently employed, your job title, areas of interest/expertise and your job function if this is relevant to your interaction with us.

Bank details may be collected during grant applications or for expense reimbursements. This information will be held for as long as necessary to fulfil the stated purpose, and then permanently deleted.

We may use your information to:

• Process donations that you have submitted.
• Process applications or renewal of membership BSAC.
• Process orders for Society associated events.
• To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into by you and us.
• Deal with entries into any competitions.
• Seek your views or comments on the services we provide.
• Notify you of changes to our services.
• Send you communications which you have requested and that may be of interest to you. These may include newsletters, information about campaigns, appeals, and other Society activities.
• Promote activities of our associated companies’ goods and services.

We review our retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. We are legally required to hold some types of information to fulfil our statutory obligations.

We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or as long as is set out in any relevant contract you may hold with us.

• When you sign up for our regular newsletter on our website(s).
• When you register for membership of BSAC directly on our website(s) or through paper forms or over the phone.
• When you book tickets for events so that we can process your booking and any payments, arrange accommodation, and other activities.

• Third Party service providers working on our behalf: We may pass your information to our third-party service providers, agents, subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to process website(s) payments). BSAC has 30 calendar days in which to respond to your request.
