Where To Eat and Drink Before an Event in Atlanta

AMERIS BANK AMPHITHEATER

In bustling downtown Alpharetta, you’ll find Citizen Soul. It’s the perfect place to pop in for pimento cheese fritters and a glass of wine or beer before visiting Ameris Bank Amphitheater in Alpharetta. Parking in the nearby deck is free and the outdoor patio is a great place to relax before rocking out.

Open late, especially on the weekends, UP is the place to go after your show ends but you’re not quite ready to head home yet. From above the city center, you’ll enjoy bottled cocktails, shareable snacks, and a view to end the night right.

Close to Ameris and flush with appetizers and craft cocktails, Village Tavern is an easy win for pre- or post-event eating. Onion dip, crispy Brussels sprouts, and bacon-wrapped scallops are all fan favorites.

CADENCE BANK AMPHITHEATRE

Do yourself a favor and book a table at the Chastain next time you’re going to enjoy an outdoor concert at the amphitheater. Whether you’re sitting on one of the patios enjoying a glass of wine by the fire pit or enjoying sweeping views of Chastain Park out of the large windows, it’s the perfect place to wind up or unwind before a show.

Easy, fast, and delicious. Bartaco is open late and serves tacos, margaritas, and street food perfect for a crowd, before or after your show at the amphitheater. There are no reservations available, but you can join the waitlist in advance and be seated upon arrival.

DOWNTOWN VENUES

When date night is dinner and a show, head to Auburn Angel. Less than a mile from the downtown venues (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena, and the Georgia World Congress Center), it’s a worthwhile first stop before heading on to your main event. Enjoy light bites like steak tartare or an entrée like oxtails served with grits and turnips before heading to your next stop. And all ATLiens will be pleased to know parking is free.

Enjoy a spacious outdoor patio while sipping a variety of German beers. Walking distance from the big downtown three — Mercedes-Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena, and Georgia World Congress Center — Der Biergarten is a cozy place for a couple or a crowd to gather. Enjoy classic German food like bratwurst, pretzels, spätzle, and more.

COBB ENERGY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Nothing beats Garden & Gun before a Braves game. You’re in the center of The Battery, right outside the gate where you can enjoy the pre-game entertainment alongside outstanding cocktails, exceptional service, and fancy favorites. Snack on deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp and grits before going into the game. You won’t be sorry.

If you’re heading to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center for a ballet, play, concert, or other performance, you’ll want to make a steak stop at Stoney River. The cozy cabin-like interior makes you feel like you’re at a chalet, complete with martinis and classic cocktails. The “puppy” rolls start off any meal right, and you’ll be sure to get excellent service before heading to your next cultural event.

FOX THEATRE

There’s one clear choice for pre-event drinks and dining before heading to the fabulous Fox Theatre: Lyla Lila. It’s two minutes from the Fox, you can walk, and you’ll enjoy some of the best wine, cocktails, and southern European food the city has to offer from celebrated Atlanta chef, Craig Richards. Pro tip: Don’t miss the crispy duck lasagna, and be sure to plan well in advance.
