The judicial elections in South Carolina consisted of a primary election June 8, 2010 and the general election November 2, 2010.
South Carolina of one of only two states where most judges are selected by the State Legislature.
Probate Courts
The Probate Court judges are the only elected judges in South Carolina. They run in closed partisan primaries before the general election. They are elected to four-year terms.
Abbeville County
- Democrat Mark Sumner was re-elected after running unopposed.[1]
Allendale County
- Democrat Brenda P. Bennett was re-elected after running unopposed.[2]
Anderson County
- Democrat Martha D. Newton was re-elected after running unopposed.[3]
Barnwell County
- Republican Myrna Still Dill and Democrat Cynthia C. Ray competed in the general election.[4]
- Myrna Still Dill won the election, receiving 50.64% of the vote. [5]
Beaufort County
- Republican Francis M. Simon was elected after running unopposed.[6]
Berkeley County
- Republican Keith W. Kornahrens, Sr. was re-elected after running unopposed.[7]
Charleston County
- Republican Irvin G. Condon was re-elected after running unopposed.[8]
Cherokee County
- Incumbent Joshua L. Queen defeated Amy Strain Wyatt in the Republican primary election, winning 60.5% of the vote.[9][10]
Chester County
- Democrat Lois H. Roddey was re-elected after running unopposed.[11]
Chesterfield County
- Democrat Edwin Malloy Davis was re-elected after running unopposed.[12]
Colleton County
- Democrat Ashley H. Amundson defeated incumbent I. A. Smoak, III in the primary, winning 56.85% of the vote.[13]
- Amundson competed against Republican W. Wesley Jones in the general election.
- Ashley H. Amundson won the election, receiving 56.91% of the vote.[16]
Darlington County
- Democrat Marvin I. Lawson was re-elected after running unopposed.[17]
Dillon County
- There were six Democrats vying for the position: Teresa Campbell, Penny German, Shay Pittman Jackson, Betty Johnson, Sheila Coates Kellahan and Kyle Price[18]
- Teresa Campbell, who won the most votes with 30.44%, and Penny German, who received 25.67%, competed in a runoff election on June 22.[19]
- Teresa Campbell won the runoff election, with 50.21% of the vote.[20]
Edgefield County
- Democrat Robert E. Peeler was re-elected after running unopposed.[21]
Fairfield County
- Democrat Pamela W. Renwick was re-elected after running unopposed.[22]
Florence County
- Democrat William Kenneth Eaton was re-elected after running unopposed.[23]
Greenville County
- Democrat Debora A. Faulkner was re-elected after running unopposed.[24]
Greenwood County
- Republican Robert Cone defeated Meg Shulze in the primary election, winning 52.74% of the vote.[25]
- Democrat Travis Moore faced Robert Cone in the general election.[26]
- Travis Moore won the election, receiving 88.91% of the vote. [27]
Hampton County
- Democrat Sheila Odom was elected after running unopposed.[28]
Horry County
- Republican Deirdre W Edmonds was re-elected after running unopposed.[29]
Jasper County
- Joseph N. Malphrus, Jr. defeated Donetta S. Orr-Hamilton in the Democratic primary with 71.61% of the vote. He was re-elected after running unopposed.[30][31]
Kershaw County
- Republican Ned T. Towell and Democrat Harriett S. Pierce competed in the general election.[32]
- Harriett S. Pierce won the election, receiving 52.83% of the vote.[33]
Lancaster County
- Democrat Sandra S. Estridge was re-elected after running unopposed.[34]
Laurens County
- Democrat Kaye W. Fridy was re-elected after running unopposed.[35]
Lexington County
- Republican Daniel R. Eckstrom was re-elected after running unopposed.[36]
Marlboro County
- Democrat Mark Heath was re-elected after running unopposed.[37]
McCormick County
- Kathryne Butler won 55.14% of the vote in the Democratic primary, defeating Claude Gilchrist.
- Patsy Wilson handily defeated Ernest Willis in the Republican primary, winning 75.39% of the vote.[38][39][40]
- Kathryne Butler won the election, receiving 60.76% of the vote. [41]
Newberry County
- Democrat Kelly Baker Nobles was re-elected after running unopposed.[42]
Oconee County
- Republican Kenneth E. Johns, Jr. and Democrat incumbent Sandra Burgess Orr competed in the general election.[43]
- Kenneth E. Johns, Jr. won the election, receiving 52% of the vote. [44]
Orangeburg County
- Pandora LaShawn Jones-Glover was re-elected after running unopposed.[45]
Pickens County
- Republican Kathy P. Zorn was re-elected after running unopposed.[46]
Richland County
- Amy W. McCulloch was re-elected after running unopposed.[47]
Spartanburg County
- Republican Ponda A. Caldwell was re-elected after running unopposed.[48]
Sumter County
- Democrat Dale Atkinson was re-elected after running unopposed.[49]
Union County
- Incumbent Donna P. Cudd defeated Calvin Payton in the Democratic primary election. Having won 60.97% of the vote, Cudd was re-elected after running unopposed.[50][51]
York County
- Kevin Sutton was defeated by Carolyn Rogers in the Republican primary. Rogers was re-elected after running unopposed.[52]
