The Connecticut judicial elections of 2010 consisted of a retention election and elections for probate judges. In Connecticut, judges are recommended by the Judicial Selection Committee to the Governor for nomination. The governor's nominees must then be appointed by the General Assembly. Judges serve eight-year terms and must be renominated and appointed. Seven judges' terms expired in 2011 and nominations were made by the governor in February, 2010.
The primary was on August 10, 2010 and the General Election was on November 2, 2010.
Probate Courts
There were 41 probate judge elections in 2010. This was partly due to the recent legislative redistricting of the probate court system, which consolidated the 117 courts into 54 starting in 2011.[1]
Judges of the Probate Courts serve four-year terms.
