I've spent most of my life in small Pennsylvania towns. I grew up in Jim Thorpe before my father's job took us to the Finger Lakes region of New York. After high school, I returned to PA to earn my bachelor's degree in Music Education from Mansfield University.

I found my first teaching job in the Cameron County School District, where I taught elementary band and general music for seven years, earning the Outstanding Young Music Educator award from the Pennsylvania State Music Educators Association in 2014. I met my husband Eric, earned my masters degree in Educational Leadership from Edinboro University, and we started our family. When our son Elliott was born, we knew we wanted to raise him in a place where we could be close to history, culture, and the arts.

We moved to Dillsburg when my husband found his dream job. I was fortunate to spend the first few months of our new adventure at home with my son. I then spent two years working for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association as the Director of Education and Events, before returning to teaching.

My interest in politics has been building for many years. My first real desire to some day run for office came shortly after Governor Corbett paved the way for huge cuts to education funding in Pennsylvania. As a teacher, I saw first hand who suffered when those cuts took place- the kids.

Not long after that, the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary fundamentally changed who I was as a teacher, but also as a person.

  • Pennsylvania must fully and fairly fund public education at the state level, pre-k through college, so that Pennsylvania students are prepared to participate in our economy and our democracy. This means fixing our upside-down tax structure and ensuring the legislature is investing in our schools.
  • We need affordable and accessible healthcare for ALL Pennsylvanians, including protecting a woman's right to make her own healthcare decisions, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, prohibiting surprise medical billing, and improving rural access to healthcare.
  • We need bold legislative action on climate change, including ending our dependence on (and subsidizing of) fossil fuels, investing in green infrastructure and renewable energy, protecting our air and water, and investing in sustainable agriculture.

Public education, Gun violence prevention, Climate action, Healthcare for all.
