Mary Whipple is a former Democratic member of the Virginia State Senate, representing the 31st District from 1996 to 2012. She served as Majority Caucus Leader for a time.
Whipple attended Rice University in Houston, Texas. She received a B.A. in English at The American University in Washington, D.C. and an M.A. at George Washington University, (M.A.). Whipple is a member of the Presbyterian Church.
