Lamont Bagby (Democratic Party) is a member of the Virginia State Senate, representing District 14. He assumed office on January 10, 2024. His current term ends on January 12, 2028.
Bagby (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Virginia State Senate to represent District 14. He won in the general election on November 7, 2023.
Bagby also ran in a special election to the Virginia State Senate to represent District 9. He won in the special general election on March 28, 2023.
Bagby also ran in a special election to the U.S. House to represent Virginia's 4th Congressional District. He did not appear on the ballot for the special Democratic convention on December 20, 2022.
Biography
Lamont Bagby was born in Richmond, Virginia. Bagby earned a B.S. in business education from Norfolk State University in 1999 and an M.S. in instructional leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009. He served on the Henrico County School Board.[1]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 26, 2015.[6] Lamont Bagby defeated Stephen Adkins and Leonidas Young in the Democratic primary. David Lambert ran as an independent candidate. Bagby won election to the seat in a special election on July 21, 2015. Bagby defeated Lambert in the general election.[7][8]

Special election
Lamont Bagby (D) defeated David Lambert (I) in the special election on July 21.[9][10][11]
The seat was vacant following Joseph Morrissey's (I) resignation on March 25, 2015, to run for the Virginia State Senate.[12] A special election was held to determine who would complete the remainder of Morrissey's term, which ends in January.[10]
A special election for the position of Virginia House of Delegates District 74 was called for July 21. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 16, 2015.[13]
