Judith French (Republican Party) is the Ohio Director of Insurance. She assumed office on January 19, 2021. Her current term ends on January 11, 2027.
French (Nonpartisan, Republican Party) ran for re-election for judge of the Ohio Supreme Court. French lost in the general election on November 3, 2020. She advanced from the Republican primary on April 28, 2020.
She was appointed to the position by Gov. Mike DeWine (R) on January 19, 2021, to succeed interim director Tynesia Dorsey.[1]
Biography
Judith French lives in Grandview Heights, Ohio.[2] French earned a B.A. in political science, M.A. in history, and J.D. from Ohio State University. Her career experience includes working as chief legal counsel to former Governor Bob Taft; an assistant attorney general with the office of the Ohio Attorney General; the deputy director of legal affairs with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency; associate counsel with Steelcase, Inc.; and an associate with Porter, Wright, Morris, & Arthur.[2][3]

French ran unopposed for her seat on the Tenth District Court of Appeals in the Republican primary. She defeated Edward Parks in the general election, receiving 56.4% of the vote.[3][5]
