Edward Arnold (independent) ran for election to the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education to represent District 2 in Tennessee. He lost in the general election on August 4, 2022.

Arnold has both his bachelor's and master's degree from Middle Tennessee State University. As of 2022, he was a doctoral student at Tennessee State University in the College of Education.[1] Arnold has been both an adjunct professor at Nashville State Technical Institute and a computer literacy instructor within Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. He and his wife, Michelle, have three children.[2]

The August 7, 2014, general election ballot for District 2 included incumbent Jo Ann Brannon and candidates Edward Arnold and Bernie Driscoll. The District 4 ballot included incumbent Anna Shepherd and candidates Rhonda F. Dixon and Pam Swoner. District 6 incumbent Cheryl Mayes faced Tyese R. Hunter. The District 8 ballot included candidates Mary Pierce and Becky Sharpe.

Arnold lists the following as his campaign themes on his website:[3]

Budget
The cost of education continues to rise as the school budget has comprised up to 49% of the total budget and is currently in excess of 700 million.

Infrastructure
Tusculum Elementary School is scheduled to be replaced. A new school may be built near John Overton High School. Applications have been received for new Charter Schools in Davidson County.

Curriculum
The pre-kindergarten program has expanded. The Common Core testing component has been delayed for one year. The population in School Board District 2 includes more students who do not speak English and MNPS must increase the number of bilingual teachers and aides. [4]
