‘Tis the season for gifting something delicious: Atlanta artisans, brands, brewers, and makers are cooking up plenty of delightful creations to shower your favorite food lover. Beyond what you can eat and imbibe, the items below span the spectrum of gift-giving, including spices, wine bundles, coffee, and hot sauce (in my bag, swag) from Atlanta purveyors. Explore Eater Atlanta’s gift guide for the best savory, sweet, boozy, naughty, and nice holiday gift ideas.
Peepal People Hot Sauces
Alyzeh Rizvi founded Peepal People and infused the Southeast Asian flavors she grew up with in the hot sauces. Different from chutney, these sauces have a thinner and more acidic profile, much like the hot sauces we’re used to in the South. The mango jalapeño sauce is milder in heat and packs a zesty flavor punch that’s great with samosas and grilled wings alike. Try all three flavors, including turmeric habanero and garlic ghost, in a gift set for $32.
Wine Bundles From Perrine’s Wine Shop
Every year, Perrine’s Wine Shop puts together holiday bundles of wine, cheese, chocolates, and glassware. With three locations in Atlanta in West Midtown, Buckhead, and Sandy Springs, the bundles are easy to pick up or get delivered. The team curates many different bundles of wine, including champagne, bold reds, natural wines, region-specific wines, and more. The bundles come wrapped in the Perrine’s Wine Shop blue box and white ribbon.
Tea Gift Sets by Herbs & Kettles
This Atlanta based tea company by doctor duo Poorvi and Abe Chordia offers many tea gift set options. The single-origin and single-batch teas are sourced from small producers in India. The Chai Lover Gift Set, which is on a Black Friday sale right now, is a trio of bestsellers including masala chai, rose cardamom chai, and vanilla lavender chai — the box comes with a gorgeous handmade brass strainer. The teas are deeply aromatic and fresh; the metal tins can be refilled with loose leaf teas.
Local purveyor the Chai Box, also has tea gift bundles, including sampler sets and spice boxes.
Omakase at Home With Homemakase ATL
Hiring a private chef for a dinner party is not uncommon. But an at-home omakase experience is rare. Atlanta chef Alex Candelas brings an award-winning Edomae omakase spread right to your home kitchen. Along with his wife, Irina, Candelas crates in everything, including ingredients, cutting boards, knives, and all plateware and glassware. From parties of four to more, the private experience of 20 courses is worth the splurge. Candelas serves marinated and fresh fish with liver sauces, rare cuts of fatty tuna, and caviar, with an optional add-on pairing of sake. He speaks about the cuts and preparation in detail, offering a relaxed education on omakase. Bonus: You don’t even have to do the dishes.
Chocolate Bar Gift Sets by Xocolatl
Xocolatl is Atlanta’s favorite homegrown chocolate dealer with a retail store at the Krog Street Market. They have many gift sets to choose from, including chocolate bonbons, monthly subscriptions, drinking chocolates, peppermint bark, and more. Founded by Elaine Read and Matt Weyandt, the chocolates are made in small batches from Costa Rican cacao. The “coolest chocolate bar sampler” includes the chocolate bar made in partnership with chef Joey Ward from Georgia Boy, which is offered at the end of the tasting menu.
Spirits from Distillery of Modern Art
Distillery of Modern Art in Chamblee is an art gallery, cocktail lounge, and, as the name suggests, a distillery founded by Seth Watson. The local spirits are perfect for the drinks connoisseur in your circle: They include an Atlanta vodka, corn whiskey, gin, and a peach amaro and vodka. Distillery tours are also available. Another option, if you need to satisfy more than one whiskey lover in your life: Local whiskey and bourbon distillery, ASW, also has award-winning bottles and tours for purchase.
Spices from Spicewalla
The spices collection Spicewalla comes from James Beard award-winning chef Meherwan Irani of Chai Pani in Decatur. From Italian dried herbs, grilling rubs, and Indian spices to hot wing rubs, including a T-Pain Fry U a Wing rub and hot sauce collaboration, these spices go a long way. The 18-pack kitchen essentials is a great investment to get started — it includes high-quality chili powder, ground ginger, sea salt, basil, cumin powder, and more. The tins keep an air-tight seal for long-lasting freshness. A Chai Pani masala collection of three blends is also available and includes tandoori and garam masala, as well as a Madras curry powder.
Kitchen Ceramics from Star Provisions Market & Cafe
Star Provisions market in Westside has everything from fresh bread, cheese, and meats to a plethora of handmade gifts, including ornaments and kitchen ceramics. The market, which houses Michelin-starred Bacchanalia, has many of these products listed online. But it is worth it to visit in person for the breakfast and lunch options at the cafe alone. Why not get a fluffernutter peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich while also knocking some holiday shopping off your to-do list?
