How to get a key file from an activation code for business solutions
You can request a key file only for business solutions, except for Kaspersky Small Office Security, Kaspersky Endpoint Security Cloud, and successive subscription licenses which can be activated only with an activation code.
Since August 1, 2013, all Kaspersky applications for home can be activated with an activation code via Internet.
A key file is used to activate business applications offline.
To get a key file for business solutions using an activation code:
- Go to the Kaspersky website.
- Enter your activation code, email address, and the text displayed on the CAPTCHA image.
- Select the check box I agree to provide my email address and activation code to “AO Kaspersky Lab” to receive a key file to a corporate product by email. I understand that “AO Kaspersky Lab” does not store my email address and will delete this data after sending the key file..
- Click Get key file.
A .zip archive containing the key file and the CompatibilityList.txt file will be sent to your email address. This file specifies which key file to use for which solution.
What to do if the “Invalid activation code” error occurs
- Make sure that your application does not use a successive license. A successive license can only be activated with an activation code via the Internet, no key file is required.
An application that has been activated with an activation code requires access to the activation servers to re-verify the license. You can also set up a connection via the Kaspersky Security Center activation proxy server. - Check that the activation code you entered is correct and try entering it again manually without copying it.
After purchasing the Kaspersky application for business, an activation code is sent to the email address you specify. If you have lost your activation code, use these instructions.
What is the difference between a Successive License and a Business License
Successive License
The subscription to the Kaspersky application allows you to select the certain settings for your application. You can subscribe to the application for a fixed period, such as a month or year. Subscription is renewed automatically upon timely payment. Subscription management, including unsubscribing, is available on the service provider's website.
To subscribe to the Kaspersky application, you need to apply the activation code provided by your service provider. Once the activation code is applied, an active key is added that defines the license to use the application on a subscription basis. You cannot issue a key file for an application with a successive license. It is also not possible to add a successive license as an additional key.
Business License
Business License is a license provided after you purchase an application from the Kaspersky website or from Kaspersky partners. The functionality of the application available under a Business License cannot be changed once the license has been purchased. When the Business License expires, the application ceases to perform its basic functions. You need to renew your license to continue using the application.
To use the Business License for the Kaspersky application, you need to apply an activation code or key file. An active license key will be added to the application.
Trial licenses and NFR licenses can also be activated using an activation code or key file. Read more about these types of licenses in the article.
