Tulin (JP), is one of the characters who debuted in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. He is the only son of Teba and Saki and his goal is to become just as good of an archer as Revali, and Teba, who is the top warrior in his generation, often takes him to the Flight Range to train there, though his mother Saki doesn't seem to agree with this as he is still relatively young. Tulin also takes a liking to Link, who had helped appease Divine Beast Vah Medoh and set Revali's soul free and starts up a minigame where Link has to shoot a number of targets down and his reward depends on his performance. He also makes an appearance in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in the Guardian of Remembrance DLC where he needs to be rescued in Korok Forest. He can summon an updraft similar to Revali's Gale, with his own take being dubbed "Tulin's Tornado", but he has yet to improve as Revali himself puts it. Tulin isn't easily frightened by the unsettling circumstances that would normally scare kids his age and maintains a cheerful attitude and his excitement towards any ace warriors' skills always keeps his fears in check. Tulin is one of the few people who managed to thaw the reserved Revali's heart when he usually isn't easily moved. He is a good friend to Harth's daughter, Molli.
End of the Timelines[]
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild[]
Tulin grew up in Rito Village and lives with his parents. He had heard of stories of Revali's heroic exploits and had grown to admire him, and his father, who also looked up to the Rito Champion, took notice and sought to train him. However, when Divine Beast Vah Medoh suddenly went on a rampage and caused the villagers much misery, Teba could not bring him to the Flight Range due to the Rito's way of life being seriously threatened to the point where they have to travel on foot or risk getting shot down and spends his time figuring out how to stop it. When Link arrives to ask around the group of Rito about the Divine Beast and Teba, Tulin will tell him where his dad went, and he hopes that he hopes that he will take him to the Flight Range.
After Medoh is freed by Link from Windblight's control and Revali perching it at the highest point to take aim at Hyrule Castle where Calamity Ganon resides, Tulin had been worried for his father's well-being since he was struck in the leg, helping Link access it but after his wound is patched up, he is happy to learn that he is taking him to the Flight Range again now that Rito Village had no reason to fear being attacked by the Divine Beast, and Teba also thanks Link for his help before taking Tulin to the Flight Range where they remain for the rest of the game. Tulin hosts the minigame where Link has to shoot many targets without losing too much stamina and how well he does will determine the reward.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom[]
By the time of Tears of the Kingdom, Tulin has grown to be a skilled archer, while Teba is now the chief of the Rito. Following the Upheaval, Rito Village became battered by a blizzard caused by the monster Colgera. When Link arrives, Tulin's parents tell the swordsman of a song sung to young hatchlings passed down from generation to generation. Tulin then leaves with some other Rito to a cave, and when Link catches up he finds that the archer has lost his bow to an Aerocuda. Using his ability to create wind gusts, Tulin helps Link recover his bow and fight an ambush.
After travelling into the massive cloud in the sky, they discover the Stormwind Ark, the Wind Temple, as described in the children's song. With Tulin's wind abilities they activate all four locks, summoning Colgera. After Link defeats the monster, Tulin is presented with a stone. When he touches it, he and Link see the Rito sage, the ancestor of Tulin and Teba. The sage tells Tulin he was given a stone by Rauru to fight back against Ganon, but it wasn't enough to seal him away. He says that Ganon is coming back and that Tulin must fight alongside Link. He presents Tulin with the stone, which he accepts, becoming the new Sage of Wind. After returning to the village, Teba tells Tulin he's proud of him and passes down his own bow to his son.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity[]
The Calamity is Averted[]
Tulin is only mentioned during one of the Divine Beast Vah Medoh missions after Teba is unlocked with the other three future Champions, where Revali will ask how Rito Village is faring and about the Flight Range after a hundred years. Teba explains that he brings his son Tulin there and generations of the Rito had passed down the story of his life, which Revali assumed that nobody has broken his records yet.
In the Guardian of Remembrance DLC, Tulin had somehow followed his father into the past and had gotten separated in the process. He ended up in Korok Forest where he befriends the Koroks who taught him about getting around the forest without getting lost. Revali saw Tulin in the forest and quickly lost track of him. Revali realized that he is not from his own time and even saw how he has Teba's white feathers, so he goes to tell Teba about it and they quickly go into the forest to find him. After some searching, they spot the young boy whom Teba recognized immediately, and Tulin explains that he was kept safe by the "tiny creatures" and Teba doesn't want to leave his son all alone due to the infestations of monsters in the forest that would want to harm him and the Rito Captain offered to protect Tulin on their way out. When Tulin meets Revali, he comments that he is just as skilled as the Rito Champion, which the shocked Revali corrects him that he is that person. Teba introduces Tulin to Revali that he is his son, by which the Rito Champion is pleasantly surprised, especially since he compliments his skills frequently throughout the mission. Upon reaching their intended destination, which is found to be a dead end, Revali becomes distraught over not being able to leave without the Koroks' help, but Tulin notes that there is a breeze coming through one of the secret passageways and they take out the final wave of monsters.
After making it to the clearing, Tulin jumps off Teba's back and he tells the young boy to thank Revali for saving him, which he does so obediently. Revali with the compliment "Hmph. You know, you're pretty good for a little kid." Tulin becomes so pleased over being praised by his role model that he unleashed his delight upon him, declaring to the nervous Revali that he is doing all kinds of training to reach his level and being able to wield the Great Eagle Bow. Revali notes that the monsters could have taken his life right then and there, and yet he is still happy despite the life-threatening circumstances. He adds that he will master the winds one day. Teba agrees with him, but he adds that he must first surpass his own father. Tulin then imitates Revali's speaking patterns much to Teba's amusement before stopping himself upon noticing Revali's seemingly miffed reaction where he asked if that was meant to sound like him. It was then that Revali chuckles before cracking up for the very first time and Teba and Tulin soon laugh with him. Tulin then attempts his take of Revali's Gale, which he calls Tulin's Tornado, but he soon falls to the ground, which Teba checks on him and Revali reminds him that he still has a long way to go, giving him an affectionate nickname "kid".
During the secret DLC ending, Tulin is seen at the Flight Range, taking a nap on Revali's lap and the latter prevents the blanket from being blown away by the wind while Teba happily looks on, seeing how much the two have bonded since their first meeting.
Trivia[]
- Tulin has more of his father's traits than that of his mother. Revali easily noticed his familial connection and has never saw a Rito child like him in his time.
