History
Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder are the mystical goats of Thor that pull his chariot.
Thor left Toothgnasher in charge of guarding a Mjolnir from another dimension, after it caused his best friend Volstagg to become a murderous maniac. After Volstagg regained the hammer, Toothgnasher ambushed him in the old City of Asgard in the Asgard-realm in order to make Volstagg relinquish the hammer. However, Toothgnasher was unexpectedly grabbed by the monster Mangog and brutally decapitated.[2]
Following the War of the Realms, Loki used magic to resurrect Toothgnasher as a gift to Thor, who had been given the crown of Asgard by Odin.[3]Attributes
Powers
- Self-Resurrection: He can be reborn if eaten unless one of his bones are broken.[citation needed]
- Superhuman Strength: He is also superhumanly strong, able to damage the Mjolnir despite it being made of Uru metal and Odin's enchantments.[citation needed]
- Superhuman Speed and Flight: He is capable of traveling between the Ten Realms and both run and fly at high speed.[citation needed]
Notes
- Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder are based on Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, the goats of Norse mythology that pull Thor's chariot.
