The Zora are a recurring sapient species or race in The Legend of Zelda series. Although they first appeared as enemy monsters in The Legend of Zelda for the NES in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time they were redesigned as a friendly and intelligent people. In most of their appearances, they take the form of fish-like humanoids. They are one of the major recurring allies of Link and Princess Zelda and alongside Hylians and Gorons form the bulk of Hyrule's civilization, having long played an important role in the history of Hyrule.
