"The Other Movie" is the first segment of the thirty-fourth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
Kiff, Barry, and Trevor sneak into a movie and try not to get caught.
Plot[]
At the Table Town Mall cinema, Kiff, Barry, and Trevor narrowly vote to watch Melons for Sale over The Many Saints of Chugga Roo. Before entering the theater, Trevor hands his phone to Nick Namé to prevent himself from being tempted to illegally record the movie. Given their past history, Nick tells Kiff and Barry that he will be keeping his eyes on them for any suspicious behavior, and that he is willing to hand out lifetime bans.
Kiff, Barry, and Trevor find that they are the only people in attendance for Melons for Sale, which turns out to be a boring, pretentious black-and-white film with minimal dialogue. Kiff convinces Barry and Trevor to sneak into the theater next door to watch The Many Saints of Chugga Roo instead. Before the movie starts, Trevor decides to take a quick bathroom break, but he mistakenly walks through the emergency exit door, which cannot be opened from the inside, with the only way out being a second emergency exit door that sounds an alarm once opened. Unable to contact Kiff and Barry for help without his phone, Trevor tries slipping a note under the door, but it is picked up by Lady Lorraine, who cannot read it due to her poor eyesight.
The theater begins to fill up, concerning Kiff and Barry, who worry that three people will be unable to find seats because of them. The two give up their seats at the back of the theater and move up front to accommodate Pawva and her two friends, who all have "crummy necks". Meanwhile, Trevor slowly goes insane while waiting for help in the emergency exit hallway, and he begins talking to a fire extinguisher as if it were a person, naming it "Red". In the front row, Kiff texts Trevor about the change of seats, only to be reminded that he does not have his phone with him. Kiff and Barry are then forced to squeeze together in one seat to accommodate Miss Deer Teacher and her "date" – who turns out to also be Miss Deer Teacher, as she is focused on "loving herself".
As the movie starts, Rat is enraged to find that there are no seats left and instigates a brawl among the audience. The chaos is broken up by a security guard, who announces that he will be inspecting every audience member's ticket to find out who sneaked in. Kiff and Barry are stopped from leaving by the guard, but just as he is about to inspect their tickets, the theater's fire alarm and sprinkler system goes off, forcing an evacuation. Trevor is shown to have finally opened the door, having been convinced to do so by "Red".
Before Kiff, Barry, and Trevor can leave the cinema, Nick stops them and reveals that he knows what they did, having seen Kiff's texts on Trevor's phone. He takes the trio to his office and begins writing a discipline report on them, but ultimately decides to let them go on the grounds that Melons for Sale was indeed a terrible film worth sneaking out of. With the whole cinema evacuated, Nick and the children, along with "Red", enjoy a private screening of The Many Saints of Chugga Roo.
