Prison Asteroid K-37 is a prison seen in the Lilo & Stitch franchise, first appearing in Lilo & Stitch. It is where the accused or convicted are sentenced and imprisoned.
In Lilo & Stitch: The Series, it notably serves as Dr. Hämsterviel's "prison cell". He has proficiently set it up to be a laboratory, complete with teleportation systems, and the lab itself can be revealed or hidden using an encrypted voice code. It is also where Hämsterviel keeps a number of captive experiments, which Gantu had managed to capture and teleport to him, hidden away in a secret cache. K-37 is located within the "Xenon sector" of the Milky Way galaxy. Hämsterviel's cell in the prison is Cell 750.
Background[]
In the original film, the prison asteroid was originally intended to imprison Jumba for his crime of creating the menacing illegal genetic experiment Stitch. However, once the Grand Councilwoman offers Jumba a deal where he'd release Jumba from prison in exhange for Stitch's capture. But when Pleakley and Jumba failed to capture Stitch on time, both of them were originally scheduled to be imprisoned, until the Grand Councilwoman decides to officially sentences him to life in exile on Earth, with Lilo and Nani as his deputized caretakers on behalf of the United Galactic Federation. As the result, Jumba and Pleakley are spared from imprisonment, but are left stranded on Earth.
This prison asteroid appears multiple times in certain episodes of Lilo & Stitch: The Series. In "Woops", Hämsterviel activates Experiment 600 (Woops) who was transported to him by Gantu and believed to be a destructive experiment like the computer said. However, Woops turned out to be a real klutz, and after causing mayhem around the prison and eventually alerting the prison guards, Hämsterviel was forced to teleport Woops and the other captive experiments back to Earth on Gantu's ship, with orders to hold on to the experiments until he was clear to hold them in his cell again and to get rid of Woops since he gave him such a headache.
In Leroy & Stitch, Gantu breaks Hämsterviel out of prison. Hämsterviel then pays Jumba a visit at his laboratory and forces him to create a new version of Experiment 626 (Stitch). When Jumba finishes doing so, Hämsterviel christens the newly-created experiment Leroy. After Leroy defeats Stitch, Hämsterviel clones Leroy into an army to overthrow the Galactic Alliance, and when Hämsterviel successfully overthrows the Grand Councilwoman, he later imprisons Lilo and Reuben in the prison asteroid, only for them to escape thanks to the reformed Gantu (who turned against Hämsterviel after his betrayal) bailing them out, as well as Reuben finally using his Stitch-like powers. However, in the end, Leroy and his clone army are defeated and taken back to Prison Asteroid K-37, alongside Hämsterviel, where they are all put in individual prison cells and seen happily dancing to the song "Jailhouse Rock" with an angry Dr. Hämsterviel tapping his foot.
