"Nosy" is the twenty-fifth episode of Lilo & Stitch: The Series. It aired on December 19, 2003.
Plot[]
Nani is having an interview at the hotel's rental pavilion. Her prospective boss lets her know that his business is known for its "aloha hospitality." He adds that part of the job requires her to help with the hotel's brunches. Nani says she can do that since she often does brunches for her own family. Mr. Jameson then invites himself, and his son, Keoni, over to the Pelekais' home for brunch to demonstrate the spirit of "aloha hospitality".
At the house, Pleakley is working on the garden, when he is suddenly hit with a balloon filled with poi. Lilo and Stitch are running around the house, having a poi balloon fight, getting the whole kitchen messy. Pleakley tries to join in, but ends up hitting Nani, who was just entering the room. She explains the situation with Mr. Jameson and that she wants to make a good impression. Lilo agrees, since she has a massive crush on Keoni. But, she and Stitch try to leave, wanting to catch a movie while Nani does all the work. But, Nani orders everyone to help her clean the poi. Much later, Lilo and Stitch manage to make it to the movie theater. They notice someone with a big nose approaching, and try to avoid hearing spoilers from the movie. But, he reveals the twist ending before they can cover their ears. Stitch grabs the blabbermouth, removing his disguise and revealing him as an experiment.
Back at home, Jumba explains that the experiment, 199, is designed to snoop around and dig up dirt on the enemy. 199 demonstrates by revealing that Stitch had "borrowed" one of Lilo's favorite books. Lilo decides to name the experiment "Nosy," but says they should hide him so he won't bother anyone during the brunch the following morning. A bit later, Pleakley decides to put Lilo, Stitch, and Jumba through etiquette boot camp based on lessons from the "Helen the Hostess" show. This goes poorly, not only due to Jumba and Stitch having bad manners in general, but Pleakley not fully knowing proper table manners himself. Stitch's bad etiquette leads him to ban Stitch from sitting at the table.
The next day, everyone is getting dressed for the brunch and making last minute adjustments while Nani runs to the store to get more ingredients. When Nani gets back, she panics because Pleakley was supposed to have started with the food already. Pleakley tries reassuring her that he has a Yule log in the oven, having seen it on a rerun of Helen the Hostess. But, before Nani can correct him on what the purpose of the Yule log is, there's a knock at the door. Mr. Jameson and Keoni have come over early to help with cooking the brunch as a show of "aloha hospitality." Nani invites the Jamesons in and introduces them to her family. But at that moment, Nosy, back in his human disguise, makes his way out into the living room, and begins blurting out that there are aliens in the house, including himself. He then notices Keoni, and addresses him. Stitch starts carrying Nosy away, but he reveals that Lilo has a crush on Keoni. Stitch manages to get him upstairs and into an experiment capsule before he says anything else to the group.
Afterwards, Mr. Jameson asks who the big nosed guy was. Pleakley says that it was "Wacky Uncle Jared" who was visiting. Nani then asks Lilo to come to the kitchen to help. Nani is on edge, not only because of Nosy, but because Jumba is cooking with thermonuclear technology, causing a ham to glow green. Lilo reassures Nani that Nosy is locked upstairs and won't be disturbing anyone anymore. Nani is relieved, but reiterates that she really wants Mr. Jameson to hire her, so everything else must go smoothly. She leaves to check something, but Jumba tells Lilo that Nosy is a master escape artist in addition to being a master snoop. Lilo tells Stitch to quickly get rid of Nosy before he escapes and messes anything else up.
Stitch stuffs Nosy into a gift box, then makes his way to Gantu's ship. Stitch gives the gift box to Gantu, then promptly leaves. Gantu, who had been searching for Nosy for several days at that point, is happy about this development. But, he soon gets annoyed when Nosy reveals embarrassing gossip rather than information about other active experiments. Gantu gets fed up and sends Nosy to Hämsterviel. Hämsterviel then asks Nosy what Gantu and Reuben say about him. Nosy reveals that they have many unflattering nicknames for him, like "Ratface" and "Keister-viel." Hämsterviel gets angry, then sends Nosy back to Gantu, hoping Nosy will annoy him more. But, when Nosy arrives, he shows Gantu and Reuben that he swiped Hämsterviel's journal. Gantu takes the journal to read, then tells Reuben to get rid of Nosy. Reuben goes to bring Nosy back to Lilo's house. But, Hämsterviel calls Gantu, informs him that Nosy stole his journal, and that Gantu must bring Nosy back and keep him in the ship, or be fired.
Meanwhile, at the Pelekai house, everyone is playing games outside while Nani finishes cooking. Keoni asks Lilo what "Uncle Jared" meant about her crush on him. Lilo says that "Uncle Jared" is a compulsive liar thanks to a disease. While everyone else plays badminton, Lilo and Stitch head inside to think of a way to ease Keoni's suspicions about Lilo's crush. Nani asks for Lilo to help her get brunch on the table outside, but Lilo says that she needs to come up with a plan to keep her secret. Nani agrees to tell her how to keep her secret in exchange for helping to finish getting ready. Once the food is plated and served, Lilo then enters with Stitch wearing a disguise. Nani says that Lilo brought her boyfriend "Kenny" over to have brunch with them. Keoni is a little surprised, but Lilo says that "Uncle Jared" got the names Keoni and Kenny confused. She then adds that "Uncle Jared" went back to Saskatchewan.
Mr. Jameson tells Nani that he has now realized something about her and her family. He concludes that since "Uncle Jared" is from Canada, when "aliens" were mentioned, he meant "people from another country." He adds that Nani's multicultural family must be where she gets her "aloha hospitality" from. At that moment, Nosy comes in, saying he's got some stories to tell. Stitch tries to stop Nosy from reaching the table by tackling him. But, Mr. Jameson pulls Stitch off, messing up the "Kenny" disguise. Mr. Jameson and Keoni are stunned, and are further stunned when Nosy continues to blab on about how he and Stitch are genetic experiments, how Nani thinks Mr. Jameson is a snob, and how Pleakley isn't a woman. After Pleakley runs into the house in embarrassment, Nani tries to explain what is happening. Before she can, Gantu enters the backyard, demanding Nosy back. Lilo and Stitch give him up willingly, and Gantu leaves. Nani is positive that all this strangeness cost her the job. But, Mr. Jameson decides to extend the job offer to her, saying that only someone with amazing hospitality skills would welcome such strange people into her family. Keoni talks to Lilo, saying that its probably a good thing his crush on Aunt Pleakley only last about a week, considering what he just heard. He adds that kids' crushes come and go quickly, and Lilo has likely gotten over her crush on him already. Lilo agrees, but gives a knowing smile, glad that her secret is somewhat safe.
In the end, Nosy returns to Gantu's ship and gossips about Gantu to Reuben, much to Reuben's joy and Gantu's anger.
Goofs[]
- The Disney+ captions do not match up with the dialogue at certain points.
- When Stitch tackles the "little kid" (Nosy) after he spoiled the ending and tells Lilo that he is not a "kid", but a "cousin", the subtitles read "hasan" instead of "cousin" like Stitch said. This mistake could be due to Stitch's unique, highly nasal accent, however.
- When Jumba pretends to greet himself to Pleakley's sock puppets of Mr. Jameson and Keoni for etiquette practice, saying that he's an "evil genius scientist from planet Quelte Quan," the captions read "evil genius scientist from Planet Turo" instead, even though "Turo" is a completely different and much shorter name.
- When Nosy meets Reuben, and in all the scenes of Nosy with Hämsterviel, he has a stumpy tail.
Trivia[]
- Moral: Don't stick your nose in other people's affairs.
- Lilo is revealed to keep a diary, which Nosy managed to dig up.
- According to Jumba, Nosy is one of his favorite experiments.
- This episode further emphasizes the humans' blindness to the aliens, as Keoni and his father neither believed Nosy about Lilo's family having aliens (including Nosy himself), nor did they take into account about Gantu, despite seeing them out in the open.
- When Keoni was discussing about crushes which Nosy was talking about, he admitted that he did have one on Pleakley in "Hunkahunka", but Keoni revealed that he only had it for about a week.
- When Stitch breathes into his hand and claims his breath to be minty fresh, the table flowers wilted shortly after. This contradicts Stitch's claim and confirms Lilo's statement she wrote about Stitch having really bad breath, which Nosy revealed to him.
- The green ham (courtesy of Jumba's nuclear technology) is a likely reference to the children's book Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.
- According to Hämsterviel's diary (which Nosy managed to steal), he sleeps with a pacifier, wears platform shoes to look threatening, and his real name is Rupert.
- Hämsterviel himself also disclosed that he has a dander problem.
- According to Nosy, Gantu wears bunny slippers and has an obsession with karaoke. Aptly enough, the latter was exploited in "Snafu".
- In the episode "Shortstuff", Stitch used the same "Kenny" boy disguise.
