Each character (hero) has:
- Active Skill which can be used at any time during gameplay;
- Passive Bonus that is always in effect, unlocked at Mastery Lvl 3;
- Special Effect, which enhances their Active Skill and is unlocked at Mastery Lvl 6
Heroes are further differentiated by having different base stats, such as more mana for a specific category of weapon.

Heroes are listed below in the order which they are unlocked in the Campaign game mode. The mana stats listed were taken from the Classic game modes, which can be different from the Campaign stats (the latter can be affected by Laboratory upgrades).

Although unable to control magic weaponry with ease, his dark pacts and sacrifices confer him huge power boosts that make up for it. |

Eris is the last member of a long lineage of wizards dedicated to the forbidden art of Necromancy. Subject to heinous experiments by the Dark Lord, her powers were strengthened by a great deal, at expense of part of her soul.
She's able to raise the dead and make them fight for her, but her fragmented soul limits her learning skills and energy. |

However, Sirius' fascination with fire was far too great, and after a fire that caused the loss of three incunable tomes, Nazar treated him as a lost cause and expelled Sirius from the Library. |

Former Novice of the Daedolon Brotherhood, Kraz is the only survivor of the Ziggurat trial that wasn't admitted in the Order, because of a forgery of the Examiner's Seal. Disgraced, Kraz retreated to a faraway temple, to cultivate the spirit and elevate it to a superior plane of existence.
After years of meditation and training, Kraz has decided to come back to the Brotherhood and take the test again, without cheating this time. |
