Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the kettle, hate the new grate This is my second 26” Weber kettle. I was looking forward to experiencing the little changes and upgrades that Weber may have made since I bought my last one 3+ years ago. The grill is as great as ever, there’s just something about the sheer size and magnitude of the 26 that makes it pleasing to use. I grill several times a week for my family and love to serve friends often. I must say, I don’t understand the appeal of the new grate design. The center inserts take up a large percentage of the grate, and leave only small side flaps to lift up to add charcoal during a cook. Also, I can no longer hang my grill grate from the side of the grill because the center inserts would just fall out and make a big mess. I will probably replace the grate with an old school standard grate, then it will be as it should.
