Scouts' Gateway to silver screen.

SCOUTS in Coventry drew inspiration from the movies to organise a camp for youngsters with disabilities.

About 10 city scout troops joined in the weekend event at Rough Close, in Tile Hill.

They ran the camp for members of Gateway, a club for handicapped young people, and decked out the site in the style of Star Wars, Grease, Disney and the Wild West.

More than 200 people enjoyed activities which included games and races.

Andy Gowans, event co-ordinator, said: "We've been running this camp for about 20 years, which offers a link between Coventry Venture Scouts and Gateway clubs, which are affiliated to Mencap.

"The camp is about integration in the sense that they live together for a weekend, which is really nice."
