SCENIC COUNTRY WALKS INTO THE NEW MILLENNIUM.
A VILLAGE is marking the new millennium by opening up new walks.Whitford Community Council chairman Bob Hughes will officially open the Five Village Heritage Trails on Saturday. They follow scenic routes through the countryside surrounding Carmel, Pantasaph, Gorsedd, Lloc and Whitford villages.
The bilingually waymarked walks will follow existing public footpaths, bridleways and country lanes.
Leaflets with information and maps will be available free from local pubs, post offices and libraries. Information panels have also been erected in villages.
Some walks have been improved to allow wheelchair access and alternative routes are suggested for handicapped people.
Cost of the project was pounds 10,250, largely paid by a pounds 9,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery fund.
