BLACKSPOT'S CALL CENTRE JOBS LIFT.
Byline: DAVID MATHERA TELECOMMUNICATIONS company is creating more than 260 jobs in an unemployment blackspot.
Call centre operator Elev8 Solutions plans to have a new complex in Ammanford, west Wales, up and running next month.
A total of 266 jobs in the former mining community will be created over the next two years, the Irish company said.
The firm is moving its operation into the town's purpose-built Parc Amanwy premises on the site of a former car accessory plant.
The new complex will handle thousands of inquiries for cinema film information as well as dealing with directory inquiry calls. The expansion has been backed by the Welsh Development Agency and Carmarthenshire County Council.
A council spokesman said: "The company's managing director Stephen Ford has confirmed the project will be going ahead in Ammanford.
"This is fantastic news for the whole county, not just the town. Its location makes it accessible for potential employees.
"This investment is also a demonstration of the faith Elev8 Solutions has in the quality of the local workforce."
