Academia Sinica Logo

The Council of Academia Sinica is a decision-making body consisting of 35 ex officio members (including the President, Vice Presidents, and Directors of Institutes and Research Centers, etc.) and 45 elected members with a tenure of three years.

The Council’s functions are as follows:

1. To make and review research policies.

2. To evaluate proposals concerning changes to Institutes, Research Centers, and their projects.

3. To promote domestic and international academic cooperation.

4. To make plans for academic development at the request of the central government.

5. To elect candidates for the presidency of Academia Sinica when that office is vacated.

6. To formulate rules as authorized by the by-laws of Academia Sinica.
