NARRATIVE REPORT ON NATIONAL LEARNING CAMP IMPLEMENTATION


July 1-19, 2024

In pursuit of the MATATAG: Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa agenda, the Department
of Education (DepEd) in support to the National Recovery Program, launched the National Learning
Camp (NLC) Program, a 3-5 weeks voluntary learning recovery program specifically design to aid
and K to 12 learners in the elementary and secondary level. DepEd envisions that the NLC will play
a crucial role in addressing the "learning losses" and "learning gaps” to attain learning standards,
enhance learner outcomes and enhance teachers competence.
Aligned with this initiative of DepEd, Solano West Elementary School participated in the
National Learning Camp Program for school year 2023-2024 held from July 1-19, 2024, following
the policy guidelines stipulated in DepEd Order No. 14, s. 2023 for its effective implementation
Solano West Elementary School, after administering the Comprehensive Reading and
Literacy Assessment (CRLA) and Rapid Math Assessment (RMA) to grade 1 to 3 learners from
April 22 to May 16, 2024 were able to identify NLC learners and determine their camp placement.
With the initiative of the school NLC Technical Working Group (TWG) to conduct advocacy
campaign, the school were able to encouraged learners and parents to register in the camp and
volunteer teachers who will facilitate the teaching -learning activities.

Camp Activities : Week 1: July 1-5, 2024


Solano West Elementary School, conducted the NLC Kick-off Ceremony on the 1 ST day of
July, 2024 at 8:00 in the morning. A short opening program were held attended by the learners,
parents, PTA Officers, volunteer teachers and school head. The parents and guardians of learners
were briefed on the objectives and overview of the NLC program as well as the flow of the class
program and schedule of classes. After the opening program, learners were engaged in fun-filled
games and activities with the teachers. The culminating activity ended at 12:00 noon. From 1:00 to
4:00 pm, the teachers had a collaborative expertise session led by the school head, where they had
discussion and sharing of ideas about lesson content and components and feedbacks on instructional
materials.
The collegial discussion adjourned at 3:00 pm. The remaining hours were spent by the teachers on
lesson planning and teaching. materials preparation.
The teacher-learner engagement was conducted from July 2-4, 2024, Tuesday to Thursday.
Classes began at 8:00 to 11:30 am and resume at 12:35 pm to 2:00 pm. Teachers facilitated learning
in engaging and relevant way guided by the lesson plan provided by DepEd. Workbooks were also
utilized by the learners during the learning session.
More interactive activities were conducted with the supervision of the teacher. Learners
enjoyed lots of Reading activities and had fun learning Math during the first week of the NLC Camp.
Teachers were able to demonstrate their innovative and creative teaching strategies to impart the
knowledge and skills needed by the learners.
The last day of the week were consumed for another collaborative session of the teachers
to share their observations and feedbacks on the learner’s performance, review their teaching
approach and discuss other teaching related concerns. Before the day’s end they were given time for
lesson preparation. The first week were absolutely a meaningful and fruitful one for the learners and
teachers.
Another exciting week for the NLC learners and teachers. July 8 (Monday) and July
12(Friday) were dedicated by the teachers in fostering collaborative expertise through LAC and
other activities. Teachers gathered again , to have in-depth and relevant discussion and sharing of
ideas and experiences. They spent the day focusing on planning and reviewing teaching, sharing
effective teaching approaches and strategies and preparing teaching materials.
From July 9 to 11,2024, learners in all camps enjoyed all activities prepared by their
teachers. Not only they had enhanced their literacy and numeracy skills from teaching and learning
activities, but they also had fun and worthwhile experience participating in games, outdoor activities
and collaborative works.
July 15, 2024, Monday, the NLC volunteer teachers had a collegial discussion about the
lessons to be delivered to their leaners. They had brainstorming session on how the teaching and
learning activities for the last week will be more meaningful and at the same time are entertaining to
motivate the leaners. Teachers planned for the closing and recognition program and had prepared the
necessary materials.
During the last three days of learning session of the learners in the camp, they were still
present and vibrant. They were as excited as the first day looking forward and thrilled for the new
knowledge and skills the teachers will impart to them.
The teachers on the other hand did not disappoint the learners and have them experience
activities they will remember. Learners engaged in interactive activities, group works, out-door
games and other camp-like activities.
July 18, 2024, last day of National Learning Camp, the school conducted a short
culminating program to recognized the camp participants and officially close the program. Headed
by the principal, the learners were awarded with Certificate of Recognition and Completion. Learner
who performed well in the camp received awards and token.
The principal and teachers thank the parents for allowing their children to participate in the
camp which signifies their support to the school. The parents in return extend their gratitude to the
teachers for spending time and effort for their children just for them to learn, enhanced their skills
while enjoying in the camp.
The NLC were implemented successfully and the whole three weeks had been a very productive,
worthwhile, fun and memorable both for the teachers and the learners.
