In response to this call, Marbel 1 Central Elementary School planned activities that
will help learners improve their reading ability, develop genuine love for reading and nurture
a culture of reading at home. Richard Allington quoted that, “the best way to become a better
reader is to read more.”
The Implementation Proper was on August 16, 2021-September 25, 2021. During the
implementation all learners were given printed reading materials from Tara na Tayo’y
Magbasa a Division Reading Material. Parents were also instructed that they will be the one
who will pick-up the materials in school. Parents guided their children in reading the given
materials while the teachers’ gave time to visit the pupils assigned to them to monitor their
progress in reading. During home visitations, teachers assigned bring with them the
individual monitoring tool of the learner.
At the end of Brigada Pagbasa Program, division personnel Sir Richard P. Moral, Jr.
EPS in Filipino/MTB-MLE was the one assigned to evaluate and validated the
implementation of the program in the school. Evaluation day was on October 4, 2021. During
evaluation Brigada Pagbasa Team were all present together with our District Supervisor Elisa
B. Flores, School Head Maam Ma. Fe Lita S. Yparraguirre and Assistant School Principal
Maam Arlene L. Dalmacio. Sir Richard emphasized the importance and the impact of the
program to the life of the learners as well as to their parents. He told us that it was indeed a
challenging program to be implemented because of the scarcity being brought by COVID-19
pandemic but it was fulfilling to see the result of all the hard work that we do just to help the
learners improve their reading level. We are also thankful that our hard work was recognized
because we are awarded as 2nd placer Best Brigada Pagbasa Implementer Central School
Category. The award we received can motivate us to continue the program to help our
struggling readers to become independent readers amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
