    (READING ENHANCEMENT)

    Grade and Section: 2 – MASIPAG Learning Area: ENGLISH (Reading)

    I. Objective: At the end of the session the pupils should be able to identify and discuss the
    elements of a story (theme, setting, characters, and events).

    II. Reading Focus: Identify and discuss the elements of a story (theme, setting, characters, and
    events).
    III. Learning Resources: Reading materials in English, lectures, charts, and digital learning
    resources including video, audio, text, and images.

    IV. Reading activities:


    A. Preparation and Setting In (30 mins):
    *Check the attendance of the pupils, giving setting of standards, singing a song about
    reading to boost their love of reading, use flashcards to highlight the difficult words to
    determine the meaning, quick review of the sounds and the dolch basic sight words.

    B. Dedicated Reading Time (120 mins):


    *Introduce the story
    a. “Honest Ben” (English Story)
    *Read aloud (teacher, individual, by rows, whole class)
    -
    - Peer teaching in reading.
    *Associating the word-picture to determine the meaning of the difficult words.

    C. Progress Monitoring through Reflection and Sharing (30 mins):


    *Coordinate identifying words and making meaning so that reading is automatic and
    accurate an achievement called fluency.
    - Use the difficult words in sentences.
    - Peer teaching in reading.

    D. Wrap Up (5 mins):
    *The teacher discusses the elements of the story read by the pupils. (theme, setting,
    characters, and events)
    *Collect all the outputs for progress monitoring

    Nagulat si Bulate at nag-isip nang mabilis. Biglang nagsalita si Bulate.

    “Kaibigan,” simula ni Bulate, “Bago mo ako kainin, mayroon sana akong hiling. Nais ko
    munang marinig ang maganda mong boses.’

    Natuwa si Tandang sa sinabi ni Bulate. Alam ni Tandang na Maganda ang boses niya.
    Tumilaok siya nang mahaba. Ang hindi niya alam, nagtago na si Bulate sa ilalim ng lupa.
