English III

I. Objectives
At the end of the video lesson, you are expected to:
1. Determine the rules of degrees of adjectives;
2. Use the degrees of adjectives in making comparison; and
3. Illustrate the rules in forming the degrees of comparison by answering correctly
and politely in the given exercise.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Degrees of Adjectives
References: Pivot 4A Learner’s Material (Melc-SLM)
Materials: PowerPoint Presentation
Values: Cooperation, appreciation, optimism

III. Procedure
A. Pre-Developmental Activities

 Prayer
The Teacher will lead the prayer.
 Attendance
The teacher will ask each group if there is a student that is absent.
 Review
The will ask the students about their previous lesson.
B. Motivation
Teacher: Before we start, we will play a game. Does everyone know the game
“Bring Me...?” (Book, Belt, Watch, etc. / Things that can be compared.)
C. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation of the lesson
This day, we will be dealing with the degrees of comparison of adjectives.
2. Activity
We will play crossword puzzle. Do you know what it is? Just look at the puzzle and
list all the words that you can find. I’ll give you 3 minutes to list every words that you can
find. Have I made myself clear?
3. Analysis
The teacher will ask the students if;
a. What have you observed in the given activity?
b. What idea comes to your mind?

4. Abstraction
 Adjectives
This are words that describe persons, places, things, animals and events. They tell
something about a noun. Adjectives have three degrees of comparisons. These are the
positive, comparative and superlative degrees.
 Positive Degree
It signifies quality. It talks about only one thing and it is not being compared with
another.
 Comparative Degree
It signifies quality in greater or less degree. Two things are being compared.
 Superlative Degree
It signifies quality in the greatest or least degree. Three or more items are being
compared.

5. Application
The teacher will give an activity by completing the table below.

D. Post Developmental Activity

 Generalization
The teacher will ask the following question:
What are the degrees of comparison of adjectives?
When do we use their positive, comparative, and superlative degrees?

 Evaluation
Quiz. Write sentences in the comparative and superlative degrees of the
underlined objectives. Write your answers in your notebook.
1. The lollipop that I bought is sweet.
2. The pillow is light.
3. My cousin is friendly.
4. That car is expensive.
5. Our house is simple.

 Assignment
Complete the paragraph by selecting the appropriate answers from the given
choices below. Write your answers in your notebook.

Degrees comparative describe superlative positive
