Credo/Personal
Educational Philosophy
“Every child has a different learning style and pace. Each child is unique, not
only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding”.

-Robert John Meehan-

As a teacher, I do believe that every child is special in their own way. Children
learn more if they feel comfortable, love, respected and accepted by the people
around them. As their second parent, we should motivate and encourage them to
reach their full potential for them to become ready, independent, and successful
someday.

Teaching is not easy; it is very crucial. There are lot of things that needs to be
considered. First, is the setting. Is the place conducive for learning? Is it
appropriate to your learners? Is it away from distraction? and many more. We,
teachers, want what is the best for our learners and we want our learners to feel
safe and comfortable when they enter our room. That is why we must spend time
and effort to make our room a child – friendly one. Second, the atmosphere.
What environment would you like your class to have? This is very important
because this will help to establish and maintain rapport between the teacher and
students, to build motivation and confidence among the learners, and to facilitate
the processes of teaching and learning. Setting rules and regulation in the first day
of class wherein children know what is expected to them is an effective way to
promote positive classroom environment.

As the quotes say, “A good relationship starts with a good communication” If we want to

have a good relationship with our learners, we must talk to them and let them
understand. Third, is your approaches, techniques, and methods in teaching young
learners. This is also very important because it ensure the learning of the children. If we
give them the right approach, method and technique that is appropriate for them, we can
guarantee the positive outcome that we want our learners to have.
My Career
Plan
Lastly, establish a good rapport to your parents. If we have a good relationship to our
parents, it will reflect how the child performs at school. Parents and teachers should
communicate and support each other throughout the academic year. They should discuss
the child's learning style, interest, and behavior. In this way it will be easier for the
teacher to know their learners and the parents will be aware how their child performs.

Also, it can help make my discussion more exciting. Like integrating ICT to my

Reflection # 1 29

This week we had our reading session. This reading session was part of the
PROJECT H.A.R.A this reading intervention was proposed by our school
principal. The participants of these PROJECT H.A.R.A. are those learners who
need intervention regarding in reading. This reading intervention scheduled all
Friday of the month of November. These includes activities that were related to
Children’s Month. They were also free reading tutorials for higher level.

We had this kind of intervention because we teachers believe that Reading is

essential and serves as a basic building block for learning, regardless of the
school subject, be it language arts or even math. In daily life, the need to read
things such as street signs or prescriptions probes reading is also an important
life skill. Reading also strengthens the brain connections, improves memory, and
builds new ones.

Aside from reading session and free reading tutorials, we had also written
activity and art activity for kindergarten learners. This week was full of activities
that related to children’s month.

Reflection # 2

During this week we conducted our ECD Pre-Assessment. In kindergarten we

had our Pre and Post ECD Assessment. ECD Checklist is designed for service
providers like teachers, rural health midwives, child development and day care
workers ,parents/caregivers who can easily administer after a brief training
period. By using the checklist ,they will be able to determine if a child is
developing adequately ,or is at risk for developmental delays.

The Checklist consists of a Child’s Record, divided into two parts: Child’s
Record 1 for children aged 0 to 3.0 years; Child Record 2 is for children aged 3
years and 1 month to 5 years and 11 months. The items in the checklist domains:
1. gross motor 2. Fine motor 3. Self-help 4. receptive language 5. expressive
language,6. cognitive and 7. Social -emotional. The Child Record 2 will be
utilized for Kindergarten learners in Department of Education.

This kind of Assessment was very important to us teachers because it will help us
teachers to know the things needed by our Learners. For us also teachers gave
the right lesson we will teach to our learners. It was also important because, it
aims at the holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and
physical needs in order to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong
learning and well-being.

On the fourth week November, we had our Kindergarten Festival of

Talents. Each section will have to choose one representative in every category
such as A1, S1, Coloring, Story Telling, Story Reading, Vocal Solo, Beginning
Sound, Puzzle etc.

The Division Kindergarten Festival of Talents aims to; showcase the

potentials of our kindergarten children to strengthen their confidence and self-
esteem and enhance the quality standards of 5-year old children as identified in
the activities: and c. ensure that the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and
spiritual personality of young children are developed.

The said contest helps learners boost their confidence and showcase their
talents. Winners for each category will have to compete to the next level of
competition which is the Festival of Talents for Kindergarten division-level.

Reflection # 4 32

On the last week of November, we had Children’s Month Activity at

school. All teachers are required to wear cosplay costumes. We, teachers from
Kindergarten department wore Disney costumes. It feels good to participate in
the said event.

We had also our Culminating Activity regarding this celebration. Our

Kinder pupils were wearing costumes and participates in different activities. We
had also our Art activities that related to the celebration. The school held
different contests to be participated by different grade levels. The Grade 2
teachers prepared a story telling activity for the learners.

We ended the Children’s Month Celebration with full of happiness,

excitement, learnings and creativity. These activity help learners to be active and
go out to their comfort zone and developed their skills and talents in their own
little way.
