about ASEAN.

him/her a round of applause class.
G. Discussing Without any further ado, our lesson for this
New Concepts afternoon is all about the History, Objectives
and Practicing and State Members of Association of
New Skills # 1 Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). When you
hear the word ASEAN, what do you think of?
Good afternoon,
ma’am. May I answer
your question?
Yes, you may (Name of the student).
I believed it refers to an
organization made up of
Southeast Asian
countries.

Very Good! What else?

Ma’am! It was founded
on August 8, 1967, when
five foreign ministers
sat down and signed a do
cument in the main hall
of the Department of
Foreign Affairs building
in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ma’am, in addition to
their responses, ASEAN is
made up of ten countries.
Brunei Darussalam,
Cambodia, Indonesia,
Myanmar, Lao People's
Democratic Republic,
Malaysia, Philippines,
Singapore, Thailand, and
Vietnam are among the
countries involved.

Wow! Shall we give everyone a big round of

applause. Okay! All of your answers are
correct.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or

ASEAN, was founded on August 8, 1967, in
Bangkok, Thailand, when the founding fathers
of ASEAN, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the
Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, signed
the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration).
Brunei Darussalam joined on January 7, 1984,
Vietnam on July 28, 1995, Lao People’s
Democratic Republic and Myanmar on July 23,
1997, and Cambodia on April 30, 1999,
becoming the 10 ASEAN Member States that
exist today.

The importance of objectives in any

association cannot be overstated. What do
you think is the purpose of establishing
objectives in an association? Ma'am, I believe that an
organization's success is
based not just on
teamwork, but also on
its objectives. The
purpose of developing
objectives in an
organization is to act as
the backbone and guide
around which their
Vision, Mission, and
Goals will be anchored.

Wow! This class has blown me away. You

went above and beyond my expectations. Yes,
I concur with you (Name of the Student). Let’s
give her a resounding applause class.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations

(ASEAN) has 8 objectives and these are as
follows:

 To accelerate the economic growth,

social progress and cultural development
in the region through joint endeavors.
 To promote regional peace and stability
through abiding respect for justice and
the rule of law.
 To encourage active collaboration and
mutual assistance on matters of common
interest in Economic, Social, Cultural,
Technical, Scientific and Administrative
fields.
 To provide assistance to each other in
terms of training and research facilities in
the educational, professional, technical
and administrative areas.
 To work together for a greater utilization
of agriculture and industries in order to
expand the trade both locally and
internationally.
 To study the problems of international
community trade, the improvement of
their transportation and communications
facilities and the raising of the living
standards of the nations.T
 To promote Southeast Asian studies.
 To maintain close and positive
co-operation with existing international
and regional organizations with similar
aims and purposes.

So there you have it: ASEAN's eight objectives.

Indeed, the stated objectives have played a
key part in the success of this organization
over the period of its more than five-decade
history. Are there any queries from the
students? None ma’am.

Even if there isn't a question, I believe that

everyone has learned from today's discussion.
What were the most essential takeaways from
our discussion?

Ma’am, this lesson

taught me that each
member state is critical
to the success of this
organization. I also
embrace the
importance of unity and
teamwork as a result of
this. These two factors
have largely contributed
to ASEAN's success that
made it to more than a
five-decade history.
Yes, in general, unity and teamwork are the
keys to an organization's success.

skills #2 Yes ma’am!

Okay, I'm going to divide you into three

groups. All you need to do is to place the 10
member states in their respective areas.
Kindly also include the date and year they
joined the association. After that, use a
graphic organizer to create a succinct
overview of it’s eight objectives. You have only
15 minutes to complete the task.
Yes ma’am!
I. Developing Now, what do you think the countries that
Mastery make up ASEAN would be like if it didn't exist?
(Leads to Ma'am, I believe that if
Formative ASEAN does not exist,
Assessment) many of them will
continue to be classified
as third-world countries
or underdeveloped
countries.
Okay. What else?
These countries, ma'am,
will lag behind in terms
of technological
adoption. There is also
the risk of greater
unemployment rates,
conflict, biases, and
injustices, all of which
would have a significant
impact on the people
who live in those
countries.

Very Good! Precisely! Excellent! In a word,

yes. These countries would not be where they
are now if not for ASEAN. As a result, ASEAN is
critical not only to the country's progress but
also to the people's well-being.
