I. Objectives
Identify two-syllable words in the phrases, sentences and short stories.
Read phrases, sentences and short stories consisting two-syllable
words with understanding.
Show appreciation for reading through frequent reading of books or
any printed materials.
III. Procedure
Prayer
Hello children, before we start to our lesson, (student will lead the prayer)

What is a sentence?
Let us look at the differences between the
groups of words in column A and column B.

In the column A, is called sentences because
it express a complete thought, begin in capital
letters and end with punctuation. In the column
B is called phrases because do not express a
complete thought, do not begin in capital
letters, and do not end with a punctuation
mark.
B. Lesson Proper
Motivation
Class, there are words pasted in the board. I
need a volunteer to come in front to pick one
word. You need to classify then paste the (student will do the task)
words if it is consist of two syllables or more
than two syllables.

A. Activity
Now I will group you into three groups and I
will give some text in each group. All you need
to do is to identify the two syllable words in the
text that I give you.
Group 1 you will read the phrases then
underline the word that has two-syllable. (student will do the task)
Read the following phrases.

Group 2 you will read the sentences then (student will do the task)
underline the word that has two-syllable.
Read the following sentences. Underline the two-
syllable word.
1. There are flowers in the garden.
2. My father wears a helmet in riding his motorbike.
3. The piglet went out of the pigpen.
4. Last Sunday, we joined an online mass.
5. Many children love eating hotdogs.
Group 3 you will read a short stories then (student will do the task)
encircle the word that has two-syllable.
Read the short story. Encircle the two-syllable
word.
“Dino’s Kite”
It was summer time. Dino was going to fly his kite. His
father saw him,
Father said:
“Dino, your kite will not fly, it is not finished. It has no tail.
Dino looked at the kites flying. Yes, all had tails, some had
short tails. Some had long tails.
That’s right!
C. Abstraction
Two-syllable words are words that when
spoken, have two definite groups of sounds.
Example:
Water (wa and ter)
D. Application
So now, I will group you into three groups.
Each group pick one representative to go in
front and pick your materials that you will use
during your activity.
- Let’s have this another activity, the two-
syllable words. We have here words
spider, window, apple, pencil and
happy. Now, get your manila paper
copy and answer.
