I. Background

STMicroelectronics is one of the semiconductor corporations in the world. Offering


STMicroelectronics catered customers all over the world with one of the industry's most diverse
product portfolios. By leveraging its vast array of semiconductor solutions, it can address a wide
range of electronic applications with innovative semiconductor solutions. of technologies, design
expertise, and a strategic combination of intellectual property portfolios collaborations, and
manufacturing clout the company's product strategy is based on sense and intuition. Power
technologies, automotive products, and embedded processing solutions are just a few examples.
Since its inception, STMicroelectronics established a strong partnership culture and, over time,
has created a global network of strategic alliances with key customers, suppliers, competitors,
leading universities, and other organizations as well as research institutes all over the world
Despite its strong collaboration with various organizations, STMicroelectronics is not immune to
organizational issues that even large corporations face.

II. Statement of the Problem

A. What type of leadership style should STMicroelectronics employ in order to abolish the
resistance of employees to the change initiatives of the company?

STMicroelectronics shall use democratic leadership style to eliminate resistance from the
employees. STMicroelectronics should use this kind of leadership style to make each one of the
employees the stakeholders of their success, giving them the voice and privilege to share their
knowledge and suggestions for the betterment of the whole organization.

B. What type of total quality tool/continuous improvement method should STMicroelectronics


use in order to gains insights from their internal and external stakeholders?

STMicroelectronics should use "Kaizen Approach" to gain insights from their internal
and external customers. Stakeholders from the outside Kaizen's underlying value can be
summarized as continuous improvement of everything, at all levels, all the time. Every employee
in the company benefits from the Kaizen approach, encourage the exchange of ideas and
suggestions so that the success of this method is dependent on the participation of employees at
all levels of the organization

C. How can ISO 9000 contribute to the overall improvement of STMicroelectronics


organizational performance?

ISO 9000 has contributed to the overall improvement of STMicroelectronics


organizational performance. It aids in the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of a
quality management system. This would include guidelines. STMicroelectronics wants to
improve their business efficiency and customer satisfaction.

III. Areas of Consideration

STMicroelectronics is not immune to the operational challenges that even large


corporations face. Most of the staff is dissatisfied with the top management's leadership style;
Employees should all agree that the leadership is directive and dictatorial. Managers are not
leaders, open to new ideas to improve the company's operations.

IV. Alternative Courses of Action


Most of the employees are concerned. Concerning the top management's leadership style;
all employees should agree that the leadership is directive and autocratic leaders, particularly
supervisors, are closed to suggestions that could help them improve the business's operations and
they only give orders and expect the factory workers to follow them.

V. Recommendation

Each employee must be included in every meeting for the company to benefit from
brainstorming to discuss the concerns and issues concerning the company. The organization must
also be open and listen to the employee's suggestions figuring out how to solve the company's
problems. Furthermore, the company must establish guidelines for the employees to follow for
the betterment of the company’s processes and movements.

VI. Management Lessons Learned

In relation to this case study, STMicroelectronics lacks in employee engagement and


approach, the types of leadership used by company leaders, the type of leadership is only
dictatorial. This puts them at a disadvantage because it is critical to listen to regular employees'
suggestions for the growth of the company. As of now, every time the company holds a meeting
to discuss the issues and concerning concerns within the company, they always meet with
employees and listen to their suggestions. as well as the brainstormed ideas and solutions for
each problem.
