The effect of COVID-19 pandemic forced an unprecedented shift in our way of life
and our society as a whole. The way we live now is different; the way we work or
study has abruptly changed. The pandemic forced a “new normal” way of life in
which our movements are limited and monitored. We were forced to adopt new
behaviors to prevent infection, such as mask-wearing, physical distancing, tele-
working and hand hygiene. Also, due to the risk of face-to-face interactions during
this pandemic, working, studying, or even shopping are now mostly done online to
prevent the further transmission of the virus. These infection prevention practices
are now part of our “new normal” society in order to stop the spread of the virus.
I have a brother who is a year apart from me. I’m the eldest and he's the second born.
we were inseparable back when we were kids. We always play together since we were the
only siblings. But growing up, for some unknown reason, he became distant. We were
indulged in our own lives. I was focused on my studies and he was focused on gaming. It
was only this quarantine (when school was cancelled and we were confined at home) that
we had the chance to bond, along with the family. i grabbed the opportunity to confront
him about our not-so-okay relationship. He actually opened up and said that he’s feeling
ashamed and insecure to hang out with me since we are often being compared. I was
“academically inclined” while he doesn’t seem to care about his studies at all. so we had
the chance to bond and talk it out during the quarantine and now are relationship is going
great.
